Hey, I registered for this forum today to finally figure out this problem:
The roof of my 2004 CLK500 does not open, neither by pulling the switch nor manually.
When I pull the switch the windows go down, but then nothing happens. No motor sound, no clicking, nothing. Display shows „roof in operation“.
So I tried to do it manually. I put the straps through the hinges, and tried to lift the cover up, but it didn’t move more than half an inch. After reading through forums I unclipped the hydraulic cylinders for the roof compartment cover and tried to lift on the straps again, but it still didn’t move enough to fold up the roof sides besides the rear glass.
Does anyone have an idea what I could be missing?
Firstly the electrical problem, maybe a broken motor? The fluid container was empty, so probably a leak somewhere I guess?
But also the manual part, am I not pulling strong enough? Are the hinges rusty maybe?
