CLK 350, CEL and shakes at higher speed

CLK 350, CEL and shakes at higher speed
Hey, my 2006 CLK 350 runs fine under 25 MPH, but if I give it gas or try to go over 25 MPH, I have to accelerate very slowly. If I try to accelerate normally, the engine starts to shake violently. The CEL is on.
Could this be because of the intake manifold? It's original and I've been told I have to replace it because it's stuck. This problem got progressively worse over the years. I understand this is a very common problem in these cars.
I am just trying to gather info before making a decision. I will get it diagnosed but just wanted insight from here from those who've had similar problems.
