CLK 550 Fuel Pumps
Looks like I'll be needing to buy fuel pumps for my 2009 CLK550, so I decided to ask the gurus here about what my options are. I looked on ebay, where left and right-hand side fuel pumps are sold separately, Not really wanting to replace both pumps unless absolutely necessary, I checked MBUSA, where there is oddly no mention of twin fuel pumps for the CLK550. On this website, a single fuel pump is identified for the 2009 CLK550, and costs $181
My question is whether this single fuel pump is indeed all that is needed for a 2009 CLK550. I ask this question because I noted in several other websites that prices for a pair of fuel pumps, designated as left and right hand side fuel pumps, are sold separately. Any clarifications that can be offered here would be greatly appreciated as always.

Hello Mr. Jeko Atanasov, and thanks for taking a moment here. The car sat for a few months unused, and the fuel in the tank degraded to the extent that the original fuel pump was pretty much a write-off. Before zeroing in on the fuel pump as the culprit, I had noticed the engine cough and lose power when I hit the gas pedal. In the past, before this fuel supply problem emerged, the acceleration of this car was fearsome. The pump was cleaned up a bit and reinstalled, after which it ran for a while, before petering out two days ago during a test drive after the car had been sitting for a while.
It was when I started shopping for fuel pumps online that I ran into that odd reference to left and right-side fuel pump assemblies for the 2009 CLK550, selling at a combined price that added up to nearly $500 USD. Ever on the lookout for a cheapskate solution, I searched some more, and then found the in-tank fuel pump, which my mechanic assures me is the one that needs replacing, so I rolled the dice and ordered an original Mercedes in-tank fuel pump costing $181, which I hope will resolve the problem. I'll write back here when the new pump arrives, even if I have to eat humble pie and admit that my trusty mechanic's diagnosis was wrong.

I wound up ordering two fuel pumps because I was unsure about the concept of a right and left fuel pump assembly. One is an OEM Mercedes part costing $240, while the other appears to be a cheap Chinese knock-off that costs $65. Now I'm still in the waiting game stage, as the shipper sends them both by air freight, while I hope that rodents don't take up residence in the car while it is out of action.
