dongle/software for working with 7229
Hi :-)
So my transmission is giving me issues and I am trying to fix these issues
I have some questions :-P And also appreciate any advice.
1) I need to be able to reset TCU error codes, as well as read the oil temperature. Does anyone have a recommendation for a DIY like me?
I have used an OBDII scanner but on the different software I used I could never find the transmission oil temperature.
Could anyone make recommendations on software/hardware that doesnt break the bank? :-P
Else is there an extended reference on specific OBD/ELM codes/commands that could allow me to read the TCU programatically?
2) Story time ... So during radiator change I leaked a whole bunch of transmission fluid (such an amateur ), and had to top up it up again.
But a bit after driving it the transmission went into limp mode. OBDII scanner read some solenoid error (yeah sorry dont have the code on hand now).
I opened up transmission and checked/tested the solenoids on the conductor plate (except the 2 sensors in the middle I believe the speed sensors).
After closing up, I am still where I started. Which is fine that's kinda where I was expecting to be.
After taking to a transmission specialist, he said it was giving the 'y3' issue and conductor plate would need to be replaced yada .. .yada...
I learnt that I have a VGS2 TCU, I'm also thinking my issue would probably be those speed sensors I didn't test.
So... I'm not planning on ever selling this car. It's supposed to be pretty good on maintenance. But I cant replace a conductor plate every 5 years either thats ridiculous (or is it?).
Do I upgrade to VGS3? Does anyone believe there would be value in doing that? Is it even an upgrade?
There's someone close to me thats a real pro at soldering, should I rather look at maintaining the conductor plate myself?
I doubt everyone here replaces the conductor plate all the time. I'd like to be in that position
I'm curious though, does it make sense that conductor plate is broken because of oil loss? or low oil?
Wouldn't it break from wear and tear rather? It's just strange that it happened right as I leaked fluid.
I just dont see low oil being the cause for broken conductor plate? But maybe it is?
Any advice would be appreciated :-)
I know details are pretty sketchy but I believe this is just he typical conductor plate issue discussed to death on every forum :-P
I'm just afraid of it happening again... and again
