If you are still willing to give it a try here is my script https://github.com/dulasau/mb-ic-eeprom
I didn't have time today to finish "write" portion so It can only read eeprom for now (should finish writing portion tomorrow)

Just in case I implemented eeprom write, so it's fully functional.

For anyone wanting to know more.
1. The repair people who claim they fix speedos failed to repair it.
2. I could not correct the milleage using any online machine, so I could not read or write to the epprom in my case using any of the clip on electronics discussed here.

I had to solder chips to repair it myself with help from Jeko.

Yes glad this was fixed thanks jeko, it was a real pain.

I did not get to use your script. I got a machine before your post that does similar things, but it couldn't read or write to the chip, really don't know why. I saw a video where someone used it on a mazda, he claimed that the clips dont make contact with the epprom chip so he had to desolder his.

Hey guys! I recently purchased a 2003 W209 clk500 and i believe somewhere along the lines the instrument cluster was swapped. I am reading dashes for mileage and plenty of error codes (SRS, display error, restraint system error, etc) as well as my horn, wipers, turn signals not working. When I reset my instrument cluster codes through OBD port, the horn/wiper/turn signals work fine, although the display errors and mileage dashes remain. However when I turn the car off and on again, same issue. I am wondering if this is a bad SAM or not since everything works once reset, and I also need help figuring out how to "marry" my current instrument cluster. I do not have access to the old one as I am not the one who originally swapped it out. Please any help is greatly appreciated!

Hey mate, first time poster poster. I went through thw thread and you've posted a lot of helpful info. THANKS.

It rained cats and dogs yesterday here in Australia. now the cars giving me
grief. It didn't start or recgmise the key(keyless go) initially but after 30 minutes or so it started and drove fine. However the cluster is not working. What ive done so far- checked all the fuses and relays(including 42 which i have a confirmed 12v feed)
checked both front and rear sams which appears to be ok how ever the rear one had a bit of moisture. Trunk was a bit damped btw.
I removed the cluster and back probed pin 4 and 6.

I've got a 12v feed on 6 (ign on) but NOT 4(key in all positions) . Havent tested the CAN lines yet. I can hookup the scope if needed.

Also noticed that swc doesn't work either.

----EDIT----
just checked the back of the plug n ive got nothing on pin 4. Pin 5 has 12v const.
