Transmission control module location.
Hi all, just a quick question. We’re is the transmission control module located in a w209 after 2005? It’s the 5G/7G tronic. I’m guessing they’d be in the same location as they are very similar.
Is it inside the transmission or elsewhere?
Thank you,
Troy

Hi Troy
My understanding is that the TCM is located in the transmission oil pan underneath the vehicle.
Be advised if you wish to remove the pan, it is wise to purchase new bolts as they are torque to shear bolts. (designed to have a one time use)
reinstallation process of the bolts on the pan require torque of 4 Nm, once they have been torqued to this specification a further turn of 180 degrees is required.
Reports of people reusing the bolts are common, however i would recommend buying new ones as they are a cheap purchase.

There is no 5G/7G transmission. The 7G has the electronics inside the oil pan. Search for conductor plate on this site and on Google.
