Biggest tire+rim combo on a CLK500
I just bought my 03 clk500 and picked up some 19x8.5in rims with 245/40r19 tires on them. They did not fit. I'm selling them and I was looking at buying rims that are 18x8.5 F, 18x9.5 R. If I put 245/40 and 265/35 tires on those I shouldn't have any fitment issues with that setup or something similar, right? The 19s just barely didn't fit (touching front struts where spring seats and rubbing on inner fender liner on rear + more under load). I tried using washers to see if spacers would make them work but I would just run into other issues (mainly being having to roll the fenders which I'm trying to avoid). I figured going down an inch would give me enough room but I just wanted to see if any of you would know for certain.
This is my first time posting anything to any forum so sry if this has been gone over already. I looked but couldn't find nothing solid.
Edit: Just found the sticky thread. I am stoopid

The issue you are having is the wheels you purchased did not have the correct offset - also identified by a casting stamp on every wheel that would look like "et" and then a number.
Best 9way to start if you don't know much about wheel specs is to find the specs of the top trim of that vehicle - in this case, the CLK63 AMG, and then find wheels that match those specs. This is also the reason people use wheel spacers between the wheel and the hub. This will also require different length lug bolts.

Yeah I looked into it a little further and it seems I'd need to run 30 width sidewalls to get by with the 19s I have. I ended up buying 18x(8.5f, 9.5r) rims with 225s on them and am going to run 235/40f, 255/35r on them. Might need small spacers for the rears (I'm yet to test fit them) but they'll be close to the clk63 specs. Thanks for the input though and sorry for the late reply.
