I'm having the issue that many here have expressed - I hold down the switch to open the top, and the windows go down as they should, but then nothing else happens. When I push the botton forward to "close" the top, I hear the motor engage for a second (and notice that the bolt at the front of the hood does move a bit), so I don't think it's that. I do notice that there are 2 'clicks' when I hold the button down again after the windows are already down. Does that give a clue to what the issue might be? My hydraulic fluid levels look fine, and I did verify that the fuse for the pump is fine with a volt meter. I'm afraid to bring this in to a shady mechanic and have them tell me that I need to replace the pump when it might be something simple like a relay.

Has anyone else encountered the "2 clicks" issue? I searched here but didn't find any matches.

Hi. I had similar symptoms requiring the switch in the car to be replaced. (05 CLK 320 Convertible)

Another fault which I've experienced is the rear plastic cover in the trunk not being fully engaged. However, that failure should, in most cases, create an error code on the dash.

GBCullen - Damn, you had me excited for a second. I bought a replacement switch not long before this broke for good. I still have the the original control chip and swapped it out - but still the same problem. Oh well.
