2005 CLK500 Cabriolet
New owner of an '05 CLK 500 --- HELP!!

I just bought a CLK 500 - 34K miles, one owner, super clean. She drives beautifully but I've recently experienced something I've never heard before. Randomly there is a deafening static roar that comes from the sound system- I mean made my ears ring. I had to turn the car off to get the roar to stop, but it returns intermittently and is ruining my hearing. I'm reading owner's blogs like mad but have not yet come up with a solution. Some suggest there is an issue with the amplifier and to either get it serviced or replaced.
My other question- there is no navigation DVD with the car. Can I order a new DVD, hopefully updated, and just stick it in?
Many thanks for any help.
John

I would take it to an audio shop that is highly rated in specializing in sound systems and have them try and diagnose it. As far as the DVD Navigation I would not even worry about it as the systems in these CLK’s were outdated and awful when new. Tech is just not a high point if these cars.
