Wow CLS head lights, looks pretty nicewith fender flares, but i dont think ill keep my car long enough till 2007. If they make a CLK65, ill consider it...

W209
I dont think MB is planning to change or restyle the CLK anytime soon, it just came out in 2003. give it another 4-5 years. I would say they will introduce the new style in late 2007 as a 2008 year car.

The W208 CLK was in production from MY's 98-2002 so the W209 could very well be from MY 03-07.
The car pictured could be the E class 2dr coupe that's been rumored to join the E class 4 door CLS as they share similar styled headlights.

2003 CLK 320
i don't think it could be the e-class coupe, the length and proportions look too much like the clk class. Besides there is no point in an e-class coupe with the cl and cls already

I think automobile mag said that they're going to make a 4-door coupe based on the next C-Class (which is supposed to be due in '07) called the CLE, ostensibly not the future CLK replacement. Who knows if that's true, but if it is and they are bringing out a proper E-based coupe (as nice as the CLS may be, it's no coupe), I guess MB is going for complete niche-ification (I know, that's not a real word).
This idea of having something different for each particular taste has been predicted for quite some time; maybe MB has decided to see if it really makes for a compelling business plan.

See the list below from the link and note the "CLE Coupe" due in 2007. The CLS in my opinion is a 4 door car and not a coupe (coupes do not have 4 doors) no matter how its marketed.
Can someone that is fluent in German read and give us the pertinant facts from the link please?
Thanks

2003 CLK 320
Well the autobild article that showed this picture said this is the new clk. i read through the whole article using babelfish. They had several shots in the gallery and it looks like the current clk proportion wise. They also taked about the new cl and other coupe introductions and showed pictures of the new cl which looks nothing like this although not very attractive in my opinion. Too bad I can't find the original article because the link is gone but there was a gallery with about thitry forty pics of the new c, clk, cls, cl, s, e, m, and slk. I am convinced from the pictures this is the new clk and not the cl or cle or cls.

I'm not a fan of any of those renders. Their CLE looks like they took a CLS and just photoshopped out the rear handles, their G-Wagen look like a Toyota Highlander, and it seems to my untrained eye that their M-Class renders don't have the rear shape that their spyshots show.
But they're just renders and not real metal, glass and plastic yet, so I'll reserve judgment until we have more real images (like those of the B-Class; it's rather tiny, isn't it? It's only 168" long! That's 3" shorter than the C-Class coupe.).

OK here is my input. I thought that W208s are good looking even though they are quite old now and So as W209. But this one.. is just so ugly. Not even funny. If MB decides this as next CLK. I will be very disappointed.

CLK 200 KOMPRESSOR Elegance

It doesn't have any significance whether it has 2 or 4 doors but seems to mean that the rear "C" pillars are lowered. The CLS isn't the first of its type as back in the late 60's Rover made a car, the P5b, which was available as saloon 4dr or Coupe again with 4 doors but a lower roofline !
Having looked all thos photo's I believe the CLE wont happen. Its a photoshop'd CLS. The new CL cabrio wont happen either and the car they claim is the new "C" Class is probably actually the new "S"-Class judging by its proportions
I think the car shown here IS the 2006 CLK which will still be W209 based and not totally new !

CL vs. CLK
As previously stated, AutoSpies said that this car (pictured) was in fact a "photoshop" of the CL, not CLK. (See link below). However, in a separate page, they indicate that "Future MB's to resemble CLS" as a styling trend, and in fact show a version of what the CL is likely to look like.
I think that perhaps there was a mistake with the listing.
The two photos are different.
The former looks closer to a CLK, while the latter looks far more like a CL.
