About to buy 04 CLK 55 - 40k miles
Hi All,
sorry if this is a question that’s asked a lot. I’m about to buy my first AMG. I’ve come across a good condition CLK55 with only 40k miles. The asking price is $17k.
I’m aware of the usual high maintenance but just wanted to hear general thoughts on that price point. I just completed a PPI from a reputable MB mechanic in my area and it came back clean. Fluids were recently topped off and a brake job was recently completed as well.
I live in Chicago, apparently this car was mildly winter driven with no issues. We didn’t see any rust damage at all.
additionally, anyone have a good rec for a CarPlay head unit? This spec doesn’t have the NAV option.

MB’s of all kinds.
Is this a coupe? If so then it’s a hell of a deal! The coupes are straight forward and very basic. I have a 05 CLK55 coupe and it’s just basic upkeep on these cars. Suspension is shot by 100,000. Change all fluids, filters and belts. Tires and brakes. Get a PPI before you buy it. Get a good test drive in.

High maintenance? You need to know where to shop for parts and do the work yourself or take it to a trusty independent shop.
I missed the M113 motors (I had a 2004 CLK500). I ended up getting another M113 motor this time a 06 E55 that needed to be save. I been working on it for almost a year. it came along way but still need attention. It's drivable now but there a slight misfire.

The price of $17k seems quite reasonable, given its condition and low mileage. And the signs of its good upkeep certainly help. For upgrading to a CarPlay head unit, consider models from Alpine, Pioneer, or Kenwood for compatibility and reliability.
