Which one is nicer.
Which one is nicer.
CLS = big car, bigger than E-class, but small inside (same as E-class)
CLK = mid sized car, even smaller inside
The CLS is nicer and has more available for it from the factory, plus it is based on a platform new in 2002 as opposed to the CLK based on a platform new in 2000.

2003 CLK 320
The CLK if you want a coupe. I think a four door is not a coupe. Thats why I will sitck with the CLK.
The CLK drives great and I have not driven the CLS.
I would chose the CLK.

tampaCLK,
You are correct in stating that the CLK is not a common car.... I was just reading your post and realized that I don't see that many CLK's here in boston....great point!

agree
i used to live in boston, great town. CLKs are not too common here either. go to palm beach, and they're everywhere...IMO more people are inclined to buy a 4 door for practical purposes. I even had some minor reservations about a coupe (i have 2 little ones), but the rear seat is of reasonable size in the CLK.
I think the CLS will be a homerun for MB. It's more sporty than the S & Es, and its pricepoint is right in the middle. It's on my list to look at for my next car.
my question is: did infinity rip off the front end of the CLS and stick it on their new M45?

2002 S500 & 2004 CLK320
thats a good thing about a clk,, they are not to common,, ive had mine for about 13 months now and its a nice car. Very different from my S500. Its a great contrast going to work in a clk and going out at night in the S. Great contrast.

209 CLK vs. 219 CLS
From an exterior perspective:
All windows down CLK
All windows up CLS
You can't beat the looks of a CLK with all the windows down showing off its splendid pillarless lines. When I drive around with the 4 windows up not much happens, when I drive with the 4 windows down I get lots of looker's and if the car's parked that way, say in front of an office building or restaurant and I'm observing the reaction without being in the car standing nearby, I hear very positive comments as people look inside or stand near; I think the dark black color and super light stone interior also add to the impact due to the sharp contrast of colors, this is especially apparent with the widows down eliminating the blue tint which washes out/tones down the stone somewhat. There are very few pillarless coupes left these days unlike the 50's and 60's as they cost much more to produce due to all the added structural reinforcement needed for today's crash reqirements and MB's NVH standards.

true
I've observed the exact same thing on many occasions...people are so intrigued by the pillar-less design, and good looks of the car...I also get a lot of comments on how good looking it is, even more so now, since I put on the fat 19" modas r6s. It changes the stance and attitude of the car.
i mostly keep my windows down. my neighbor calls it my half-convertible.

The one in the picture looks nice. However that is modified and not what comes from the factory. I saw the cls at the Ft.Lauderdale aoto show and thought it looked like an overgrown Lexus es.
I am in no way looking forward to the new designs of future Mercedes. I think they have a great style with the round headlights and pillarless design now, and should not focus on restyling the car but rather improving its build quality. As far as design look at the new BMW'S enough said.

My CLK55 definitely gets a heck of allot more attention from the colege girls at the nearby University of Delaware than my M3 ever did!! For better or worse, it's been my experience that women really like the CLK's...
