I just sold my 2004 Z06 and those cars were always tested in the 3.9 - 4.1 range. Point is, I think that if your going to spend $70K you may want to consider some different rides. There is no dought the Z06 is a great car, I loved mine and it would smoke my 55 but the bottom line is that when you get in it you know its a chevy. Spend a little more and get yourself a used 911 turbo, that will pull a Z06. I know because a freind of mine also had a Z06 and his son had a 911 turbo, they lined them up and from whatever speed the turbo pulled away without a problem, those things are wicked. My feeling is that to truly get all that power to the ground and make the car easy to drive fast all wheel drive is a must in a street legal supercar. Hey just my .02.

no mercedes will ever outperform a z06, its 31** lbs. most benzes are at 37** and up
as for the turbo, i think it depends on the track, thats how close they will be

I've test driven my buddy's C6 Z06 several times, currently 860 miles on the clock it ran 446/417 on the rollers, I suspect when the LS7 tuning capabilities are available to combat the dreaded TQ management the #s should increase.
For a production NA vehicle, it's amazingly FAST the speed rush is intoxicating and with a few bolt-ons and a good tune it's easily a 10 second hot rod. I've ran my modded C6 up against his Z on a 60-100mph roll he'll take me by half a car length (better gearing & 325s on the rears helps him plenty)...this is why my ATI Procharger kit is sitting at my friend's Corvette shop awaiting install and a rematch :p
On the downside, the OEM tunnel plate emits too much heat much more than my C6, abs of steel would be on the top of my "list to do", also here in So Cal the targa is more useful than a hard top.
I've driven a 996 TT stock & modded and I don't see it handing a Z06 it's ****, just my honest opinion...and when the 997 TT is released, we'll be comparing the numbers to the "Blue Devil."

Well, in this video of the 2006 Z06 at Gingerman , the Carrera GT doesn't gain any ground on the C6 Z06 over several laps despite having R compound tires and wider rims/tires than the Vette. The new Z06 is a monster and will dispose of stock 911 turbos, Vipers, and Ford GT's unless the driver's ability gives them an edge.

Hi All,
That is one ugly car, my mother-in-law isn't even that ugly. Out of all the cars in the world that I would look at to buy, that had huge HP, that car just by it's looks alone would not get me to open my wallet.
Come on guys there are plenty of cars out there that go well, I mean you would be embarrased showing up with your wife in that thing, Be Jesus wife would devorce me.

What forum is this?!?
Wow, I came to the CLK55 forum for the first time in ages and all I've read about today are *****-size contests about M3's and Z06's ...

If you believe that I also have some prime swamp land in florida I'll sell you.
Gee...that sounds awfully familiar...where have I heard that number before?
Ah, yes, I remember: I read about it in Car & Driver, in this article, and posted it here, only to receive a great deal of static from you...as I recall, that car was tested at GM's facilities in Milford...hmmm, and now we have a private owner duplicating it...dang, those GM folks must be following the owners around and modifying their cars too!!!
Still wanna sell me that land in Florida? Or would you prefer some ketchup with that crow?

"Going from a Benz to a Chevy? Better get ready for a severe reality check. Those Benz owners who haven't realized it, you've been mercilessly spoiled by the build quality, design, comfort and features of your German AMG ride. Leaving the fold for a Chevy will result in a serious shock that you may not enjoy living with."
That summed it up for me after driving a Z05 last month. Let's appreciate the corvette for what it is, the fastest under 100k sports car on the planet. Comparing it to a fast luxo-coupe like the clk or an m5 is poinless. You'll never see many of us in a corvette, and you'll never see many corvette owners in a benz. No question a vette's a LOT of fun, but I don't want to be driving one to work!

I'll pick up a C6 Z06 in a couple of years for about 30 - 35k. If this is like any other Chevy, it's not going to have the greatest resale value. That's what you call a real bang for the buck! I'm being serious too. The new C6 Z06 is an awesome car, bar none.
