CLK-DTM spotted on the road
While driving in Affalterbach I happened upon this CLK-DTM out for a test drive. He was in front of me at a stop sign. When the road cleared up he was off into the apple orchards but left behind a very pleasing exhaust note. What an awesome car!

Mercedes has been succesfully racing the CLK series in the DTM for several years now, so the street version of the CLK DTM is a tribute to their efforts in that series.

P.S. Didn't notice where you live, but the US equivalent (in a sense) would be NASCAR. Basically, a racing series loosely based on production vehicles.

I'd liken it to NASCAR in the sense of public appeal and awareness over in Europe ... though I think I would liken the cars more towards World Challenge or Gram-Am racing myself then NASCAR.

My latest "Star news" magazine just came in the mail, and shows a CLK DTM here in OC at MB Laguna Niguel. They say there are only 2 in the USA, and they have one. Has anyone here in OC seen this in person yet? They indicate it's a 5.5 putting out 582 HP. Pictures sure look great, must be awesome in person.

There is a guy here in Sarasota driving around in a CLK GTR. Apparently he is a billionaire car collector (and driver), and this is one of his toys. The car was in at the dealership when I saw it. My mechanic said that MB requires that AMG technicians service the car so they flew some guys in from Germany. I got to check out the car up close and the interior as well. Very cool.

Um yeah, I don't think the owner of Laguna Niguel MB or his wife will let you drive that car. I believe the other CLK-DTM is owned by Bruce Canepa of Canepa Design. The closest we'll ever get to driving that car is in a videogame. Time to play Gran Turismo 3 on my Logitech wheel.
