Squealing Brakes?

I find it unbearable the noise my brakes make when it's cold! I have taken my car into the MB service center multiple times and they keep telling me the same BS story saying that because they are "HIGH PERFORMANCE" brakes that they need to be heated up. Do all of you guys have this? is this just my dealer bull ****ing me around? my brakes are both around 85% rotor/pads so they do not need replacing.

Any ideas? and this is on a w208 CLK 55.

Cheers,

Mercedes
Maybe a run to 60mph and a quick stop to 20 mph a couple times will fix it. Sometimes stuff builds up and that gets rid of it.

You can also consider ceramic pads...less squeak. It is true that they need heating up though... I do get a bit of that when its cold here too.

Hi Learso,

I had a lot of trouble trying to getting Ceramic brake pads for the CLK55 AMG W209 current model, they are available for the W208 it seems but not the current model which has 6pot fronts and 4pot rears.

I found the company's advertising they had Ceramic brake pads did not know they would not fit the W209 AMG Model and have since changed there websites.

Are you aware of which companies currently support Ceramic pads for the current model?

I believe Akebono does...do a search on this forum and I think you will find more info. There are not a lot of aftermarket companies selling them right now as the technology for cars like ours is relatively new. But they are out there.

Good luck,

Learso

Hi Learso,

I tried those do not fit, fit the CLK55 AMG 2003 model, not the 2004 onwards which have 6 pot fronts & 4 pot rears, had to get a refund.

W208
nex, I have factory brake set-up on W208. It is very cold here. I only get squeal when I let brake dust build up.
Good luck. Edit" Hot or cold "

Major brake squeal on my CLK500, front rotors and pads changed twice and now after the 2nd change it only squeals from the psngr. side . The high perf. brake story is BS as my Porsche 911's and 911 turbos never squealed or for that matter my last M3 or any of the others I've had the good fortune to own. Sometimes MB just sux. Don't accept it and demand a fix...I have not let up as my payments sure haven't. BTW My 2003 CLK500 never squealed or did any of the three CLK 430's I owned.

There has been a new DTB released regarding this.. Involves another retaining clip. Check your dealer for updates.

Is this newer than the one released in Mar 2005? (P-42_10-51BMar 05) I've been told this DTB seems to indicate that the brakes will squeal even when the brake pedal is not pressed due to the clip(s).
