Looks like the 07 CLK 550 will have more power than the current 55!
Apparently the 2007 CLK550 (which replaces the 500) due this July, will have 382 hp!

Will it actually outperform the CLK55... if so... kinda sad for the rest of us. This would be the first time that the next generation will outperform the previous performance line.
Does it make sense to do that? An 80 hp bump? That's the biggest I've seen yet.

By the way the present gen E55 clearly destroys the old gen W210 E55.

Ok. If MB can make a 5.5L @ 380 hp... why did AMG make their 5.5 @ only 360?
Isn't AMG supposed to produce higher performance engines? I know there is a 6.3 in the future, but I am comparing MB 5.5 Vs. AMG 5.5.

Mercedes will sell you all of these things. Its no problem at all. Just sign a blank check and mail it in with your AMG requirements.

BTW,
i lease my cars.
and its unacceptable to have to pay extra for a lsd on a car thats already a performance model, especially 1 w/ 500 hp

the AMG engine has been around since 1999... and technology advances every year. This engine will be discontinued after this year, except for probably the SLK and C-class.
The new 5.5L 4v is needed to compete with the likes of Lexus 4.6 380hp/ 4.8L 360hp BWM.
Pretty much as this point, AMG will use the 6.2L engine for just about every product.
I say if you own a CLK55, just start looking to MOD or look into getting a CLK63 if you want the AMG badge.
