Greetings,
I am not sure whether you've found what you are looking for- BUT! I listed my vehicle a several weeks back (ebay) and really got frustrated with the process. (Long story which I will be GLAD to tell is anyone interested. )
Point, I still have my 2001 CLK55 with 12,500 miles... Black with black and its condition is excellent. I am about to perform the B service so the vehicle will have a clean bill of health. The options are as listed below and I would be glad to email you photos. It has been garaged since inception and driven on weekends.
Let me know!
While I have already experienced the AMG vs MB comparison in my ML and C classes(W203), I just dont think the timing is right for me to own a CLK55... If I was looking for the power I would be looking at C32s in the low $20ks and then doing a pulley upgrade for 400hp but I would rather have some money to save, and buy a house as rental property. In the long run that will mean more AMGs for me... If I find a CLK55 in the next couple months COOL, if not there are certainly some STELLAR deals on CLK430s around here. I can afford to be more picky with what I want in a lesser engine level. Such as a fully loaded CLK430 vs an otherwise empty 55... Who knows maybe a 430 will be what I drive for now but a kleeman package could be on the horizon? Then your all in trouble, haha[/QUOTE]

You can rag me all you would like about listing it high but here it isn't high on our market place. You have to think about this! You can buy most cars almost 20-30% cheaper down in the States.
So nex, why the heck is there a 20-30% price differential? Especially if wages are, comparatively-speaking, "equal"? That makes no sense whatsoever ... I would think every Canadian would just jump over the border and buy one if that were true (let me guess - you're not allowed to buy cars in the States and bring them back over the border).

I think it doesnt refer directly to car cost usually price difference is due to taxes. US prices are always a bit lower than EU counter parts due to the fact that us americans buy and upgrade things all the time. So if you check digi camera prices they are about 10-20% cheaper than germany 30-60% cheaper than greece, italy etc.

Now onto the topic at hand. Was 2002 or 2003 the last year of the W208 55? I know they started the W209 non-AMGs in 2003 but for some reason I thought it was another year before the W209 55's came out. Also is there much difference between buying an 01 vs 02? I'm planning on buying a W208 AMG but not for another year or so. Hang on to my beater until I'm finishing college then graduate with a nice AMG.

I believe the 2003 CLK55 convertible had the W208 body!

I love the idea of a supercharged CLK55 but to be honest I would NEVER buy a car with HPS products on it. You may have had a great time with yours but I've heard so many horrendous things about that company back when they used to be represented on this board. I wouldn't touch their products with a 10 foot pole.

Once I have a job I could theoretically spend as much as I want as I do live at home and will only have a cell phone, car, and insurance payment to make. I would prefer to spend as little as possible on a vehicle. But being as spoiled as I am have some limits...

Dude, how old are you if you don't mind me asking.. Shame on you if you are over the age of 18, leeching off of your parents and let your mom drive a 93 Toyota Camry while you cruise in an AMG! My recommendation for you is to buy a car that you can afford without mommy and daddy's help with the down payment.

Hps
Hellcat,
For one, I try to share my issues, but try not to bad mouth. When I first installed the hps it did fine, just loud.
I moved to my Powerdyne and love it.
Its not the HPS quality, its the people(person) in sales/marketing. In the Mercedes world you need to be honest and do what you will say you will do.
The new gen 2 HPS looks great, but I hear the performance improvements are not that great. I am not an expert and have not seen it run.
have fun

Dude, I apologize if my previous post seems harsh and I didn't meant for it to come out that way. It's just that I've seen chumps sporting nice cars while their parents work their *** off to support the habit. More power to you, and I think you should go for it.

Originally my choice was a new 350Z or G35, I then opened it up to used vehicles, which point a 330 coupe with stick came in to the picture. I then hesitatingly opened up to the idea of a CLK... My ML experience has left a far from nice taste in my mouth for MB products and still worries me when I think about a CLK...

I will be purchasing something a little cheaper per month but more importantly something that uses less gas and doesnt need nearly as much maintenance as my ML55...
