Anyone selling there W208 55s?

I have been mulling over the idea of picking up a W208 CLK 430 and a number of friends keep pressuring me in to the 55, so I thought I would look to see who might be selling... there isnt a large selection in my area to choose from.

We don't want a fellow AMG enthusiast in the streets now, do we?

Pete, I would highly recommend waiting on your decision to purchase anything until you've had the opportunity to drive both the 430 and 55.

Can you hold onto your ML for a few more months while hunting for the "right" car? Selecting the best pre-owned example will be less expensive and aggravating down the road.

While I agree driving both the 430 and the 55 is a good idea....I feel this might be a double edged sword for Pete. Once he gets behind the wheel of the 55 he will never look at the 430 again!

Pete.....no one wants you homeless.....you will probably bum a place to sleep off of one of us!!
You have a budget wich is smart. Stick to it. Also patience. If you want a CLK55 for $25K then I bet there is one out there for you. Its all about timing. Maybe now isn't the right time. Or maybe search harder.
Good luck either way.
And forget about the G35.......stick with mercedes....if only for the safety factor!LOL

guys guys guys... I will not be with out AN AMG... I AM keeping the ML55, my mom will be selling her 93 camry off with in a couple months, so instead of her buying another toyota product... I would rather her get in to my ML55(she will be much easier with it than I) and I am looking at vehicles now.

Once I have a job I could theoretically spend as much as I want as I do live at home and will only have a cell phone, car, and insurance payment to make. I would prefer to spend as little as possible on a vehicle. But being as spoiled as I am have some limits...

Originally my choice was a new 350Z or G35, I then opened it up to used vehicles, which point a 330 coupe with stick came in to the picture. I then hesitatingly opened up to the idea of a CLK... My ML experience has left a far from nice taste in my mouth for MB products and still worries me when I think about a CLK...

While I have already experienced the AMG vs MB comparison in my ML and C classes(W203), I just dont think the timing is right for me to own a CLK55... If I was looking for the power I would be looking at C32s in the low $20ks and then doing a pulley upgrade for 400hp but I would rather have some money to save, and buy a house as rental property. In the long run that will mean more AMGs for me... If I find a CLK55 in the next couple months COOL, if not there are certainly some STELLAR deals on CLK430s around here. I can afford to be more picky with what I want in a lesser engine level. Such as a fully loaded CLK430 vs an otherwise empty 55... Who knows maybe a 430 will be what I drive for now but a kleeman package could be on the horizon? Then your all in trouble, haha

Uh, no, I'm pretty sure $60,000 canadian dollars is close to $52,500 US dollars. Still, this is pretty high.

Actually no it was not a joke, and if you read my statement I did include that I am from Canada and the going rate for a 2002 CLK 55 is about 65k cdn right now.

The black book value of a 2002 CLK 55 AMG with 30,000kms on it is $49,000-$52,000.

(It's actually US $52,633,43 today, according to XE.COM.)

Also, FLYNAVY, he said 50,xxx kms, not 50k miles. 50,000 km == 31,000+ miles.

And remember that nex said "they sell for a hell of alot more here then down there". It doesn't matter what we all think "down here" if the Canadians are willing to pay a lot more, eh?

That's correct. But being as this is a forum, I can voice my opinion, and whether he is in Canada or not, I think it's high. Considering the fact that ANYONE in ANY country can get onto eBay and pick one up for more than $10k less than that, I find $60,000 Canadian dollars for a 2002 CLK55 too much!

I just don't think you understand this situation. I don't know if your being narrow minded or just plain idiotic.

A CLK 55 will sell at about $130,000MSRP CAD. I started my comment above by stating that I am from canada, and they go for alot higher then anywhere else. And you most likely will not go for it because of the cost. I do not expect anyone from the states to look twice at any cars from canada due to the price difference. You can rag me all you would like about listing it high but here it isn't high on our market place. You have to think about this! You can buy most cars almost 20-30% cheaper down in the states. Well the wages are really no different from canada to the u.s. it means that anyone wanting a car like the CLK 55 AMG has to pay alot more then anyone from the states due to our marketplace.

Cheers,

YOU must be the idiotic one as I explained that my post reflects how I feel about spending that kind of money on a 2002 CLK55.
