My wife upgraded her car...

She went from a Lexus IS300 to...an '03 MB CLK 55 AMG! Major upgrade, huh? Great, now her car is faster than my '05 Audi S4. I guess I can live w/ that for now. LOL!

This is the 2nd MB we've bought in the past year (my previous MB was an S500). Details on her CLK = 38K mi., Pewter Silver, 18" AMG Wheels (225/40s and 255/35s), loaded except for nav. Anyway, here's the pics. Enjoy!

Nice car. Would you mind sharing how much you paid for it? I can see from the pics you have the bi-xenon package and parktronic. Any other options?
I see no Nav, no distronic, can't tell if it has keyless go or rear window sunscreen. I was just curious how much a car like mine would be selling for right now.

I don't mind. I paid $39K + tax and fees. It's actually a great price (a steal, IMO) vs. others on Autotrader w/in 100 mi. of my home. Those ranged from about $42K to $51K. Of course it can vary depending on mileage, options, etc.

So, for your car, maybe mid $40K range would be reasonable. That's my guess.

Thank you. As for the buying experience, one of the best ever for me (and between the wifey and I, we've been through 2 Lexus', 3 Audis, 1 BMW and 2 MBs in the last 6 yrs). It all started when I called and the owner Ali and I haggled over the phone. I talked him down to a price I couldn't refuse ($39K) and even got a high trade-in value for the IS300.

I did go there a couple of yrs. ago, but dealt w/ a rather pushy salesman and went elsewhere (like you did). This time, Ali (owner) and Bob (finance dept) were so polite and eager to please the wifey and me that we were amazed. I recommend you bypass the salespeople and talk to the owner, if possible.

Congrats!!

I just picked up the exact same car on Saturday--but I lucked out getting a lower mileage + NAV.

Tell your wife congrats and enjoy it!!!

2003 CLK55 AMG, 16,000 miles, Nav, keyless go, everything, etc....

Thanks for the replies so far everybody. And even though I handle our finances, she makes more $$$$ than me and she "does" wear the pants in the family. LOL!

It's her dream car and she deserves it. Thanks again, everyone. Glad to be an MB owner again, even if I hardly get to drive it.

Hey mcbaes72,
Did you say the car came with 18inch rims? Or did you buy them seperately?
How's the ride with 18's?

Yeah, it came w/ the 18s which were in good condition overall (there's a little curb rash on one wheel though). Anyway, the ride is just fine and I'm used to 18s since I have them on my S4 and previous cars, too. I don't think the ride is too stiff vs. 17s, but you do have to watch for potholes. There's a small bubble on the sidewall of one of the tires most likely due to hitting a deep pothole. Oh and even train tracks can be pretty bad, too, just gotta slow down for those.

I recommend 18s (especially lightweight forged wheels like BBS RS-GTs, OZ Superleggera IIIs, HRE wheels, etc.) and although I'm not a big fan of the chrome wheels it came with, the wifey loves them and that's all that matters since it's her car.

I don't think my wife will take a pic w/ the car. But if she ever does, I'll post it.
