Yeah, she read this thread yesterday afternoon and it made her feel better and proud (thanks everyone!), but I'm gonna tell her to read it again since there's a few new posts.

As for the Renntech SC, I wish we had the disposable income to do that. The Performance Pkg. 2 adds nearly 100 more hp, but is pretty steep at almost $16K. At least this could be an option after the car is paid off in a couple of years.

Disclaimer: Since the wifey is reading this thread, umm...no dear, I'm just kidding...we won't get the Renntech SC kit. It's too expensive and your car is already fast enough. LOL!

Heh HEH heh too funny!!! You do have to be careful though ... my wife drives an E55 and now that she is in an AMG ... nothing less than that will do now.

 

Its true...once I got my CLK55 I got my honey into AMG. Now all she dreams about is the CL55!!! Great....just what I need....my girl driving a better car than me!

- so his is brand new--and this is an advantage?? He'll take a far larger depreciation hit than you over the same time frame, and thus incur higher ownership costs, for a lessor, slower, far less sexy vehicle. Wow.

My apologies. Shortly after this thread was created, the wifey shared it w/ her co-workers and they all got a good laugh out of it. Eventually, it got around to the "genius" who made those ridiculous accusations and he got put in his place. From what I hear, he's not bragging out loud anymore. Thank goodness! Now, he's finally left my wife alone and she's more proud than ever to be an AMG owner!

Kinda makes you wonder about some people, huh? I mean c'mon...E350 vs. CLK55 is no contest. He was either ignorant, jealous or both.

How do you reckon the S4 compares to the 55? speed,handling, interior etc. Is your S4 stick? Do you find it jumps over bumps in the road when going quick? Very nice combo of cars

 

Thanks for the compliment. Well, to answer your questions...

Speed = CLK55. More hp and torque plus CLK55 is at least 100 lbs lighter, feels quicker off the line.

Handling = S4. It's very close, but when I corner I just feel a little more confident in my S4. But I'm upgrading the wifey's suspension in the near future (PSS9s and H&R sways). So, that opinion of mine should change soon.

Interior = Tie. I love both Audi and MB interiors (owned 3 Audis and 2 MBs the last few years) and I feel both are superior vs. BMW (had an E39 540i before, too). Don't get me wrong, the 540i was a great handling car, just the interior looked plain is all.

Nah, my S4 is AT. I drive it in Tiptronic mode 90% though, same w/ the CLK55.

 

This thread is pretty funny; of course this guy is jealous! He probably can't believe that he spend the same money as your wife and got an inferior car.

Well...don't worry because there is even worse! One of my co-workers (has an old Chevy not Corvette at least 10 years old don't even know the model) was insisting that his Chevy was better than my old Civic and now that I have a C43 he insists that his Chevy is better than my Mercedes.

I drove a couple of times to lunch (he was in my car including 2 other co-workers) and he was making the following statements:

---"MB engines and transmissions don't last half as long as Chevy's"
---"Mercedes is using cheap metals for their parts"
---We saw a 2005/2006 C230 Komp on the road he said “Those C’s are a piece of *****”
---"Mercedes and BMW's are not comfortable cars like my Chevy"---Of course I replied "Yeap, if you can't afford to buy a boat you get your self a Chevy and you get the same driving sensation"
---“I have a friend that works for MB, he tells me everything about all the problems that MB's have”. I said to him, I would like to talk to him and see what he says. He answered that his friend doesn't speak English!!! I wonder what kind of job his does for MB...probably cleaning the bathrooms

another time that I tried to explain to him that he won't find a Chevy sedan that has even comparable performance and safety features as MB i.e. braking distance. Of course he insisted that Chevy's and particularly mentioned the "Impala's" have some of the best breaks. A simple research that I did with another co-worker revealed:

C43's have 60-0 of 112ft (Some of the best in the market, comparable only to the newest Z06 (~110ft)) which is a sports car and the stopping distance of one of the newest Impalas was something like 135ft which is one of the worst in the market. Naturally, I don't even engage into car conversations with him any more, since everything he says it totally nonsense.

My other co-workers were laughing at him when he was saying that. I don't want to direct him to this website because I am afraid that he might complain to HR or something. To me, there is no reason to pay any attention to these people.

 

I drive a BMW minivan and I love being able to go, stop and turn.

Plus, there comes a point when someone is so ignorant and stupid that arguing with them gets you nowhere because you cant win! They cant understand, and so theres no way that logic can get to them... Its very frustrating... I get the reverse of this envy, I get hated on because im 19 and im driving a 15 year-old 300ce and people are always like wow your live is easy, silver platter, you dont appreciate anything, rich a$$hole, and stuff and the like... Thing is, my dad bought it from the person he sold it from in 1991 for about $4k USD.. oh yeah, yep... Im rich alright... oh yea
And as for your cars rock on man... Your wife is one lucky lady to be rockin a clk55! And yeah, that guy deserves some sort of punishment for being a jerk.. I hate when people talk down to other people

Tell him you hope he leased his Cheby because if he drives it at all agressively in about 5 years parts are going to start falling off in both the interior and exterior; where the MB can handle that level of use for decades... he'z a shnook! Does he look up to the lead character [the office manager] in "The Office" too?

 

What an idiot! Direct him to this site outside of work. That should solve it. Otherwise, people like that are a waste of time to try and explain things logically.

 

Thanks! The CLK55 was her dream car for years, just thought I'd finally get it for her since I put her through a lot of stress w/ all my cars I've changed over the past 6 years.
