The artical starts out with a bang then ends on a negative!
I don't care what they say. The CLK55 AMG is a great car that most people can only dream about. I'm keeping mine.

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
Clearly, this Edmunds review speaks with forked tongue!

The fork that counts states:

And unlike the S55 we drove recently, the CLK55 is a perfect example of what AMG can do to an already capable car. While the S55 felt like a slightly faster S500 that was still too unwieldy and wallowy to deliver a truly thrilling ride, the CLK55 felt like a CLK-Class that had been tweaked for ultimate performance. The V8 engine makes excellent torque over a broad powerband, the five-speed automatic transmission never misses a beat, and the suspension combines a firm, but acceptable, highway ride with exceptional composure on backcountry roads. The front seats offer a multitude of adjustments, and the engine makes the kind of music you expect from a hot-rodded V8.

The sick and idiotic fork to be discarded states:

After we were done driving the car, we didn't have a strong yearning to donate a kidney just to own one.

I agree, especially since taking money for donating a kidney in the U.S. is illegal!!!

"Summing up, if you'd rather walk than drive anything but a Mercedes, the CLK55 is the only way to go if you want superfluous power and handling."

Funny, this is the EXACT reason I bought mine

This Edmunds writer had overactive kidneys, was up against a publishing deadline, about to get fired because of his tardiness, -- and no place to p...

So he was ready to donate his kidney, because his level of discomfort increased exponentially, - as he was about to miss the publishing deadline and the pressure in his bladder became explosive -- as it was about to burst!

No wonder, his judgement of the CLK55 AMG deteriorated with every word the closer he got to the end to fabricate the mandatory number of words -- simply too much bladder pressure clouded everything and became bulls..t!

...at the end he even made this nebulous statement:

Some editors felt the seats were a bit firm. Combined with a taut ride, this car's no land-yacht. Save that for the Cadillac Fleetwood/Lincoln Town Car set.

Very ponerous/preposterous. What's next??

The space shuttle to compare the CLK55 AMG to -- of course!

Let's give the poor suffering Edmund's writer the benefit of the doubt because of his own personal precarious situation.

I agree

That is probably one of the weirdest executed reviews I have ever seen (including cars, movies, books, etc). Seems like a paragraph was deleted during the editing process. Overall, reminds me of the song Adam Sandler writes about his ex-girlfriend in the "Wedding Singer".

He did make some good points re: steering and brake feel, but anytime I hear "not 'worth' the additional $20K compared to an M3" misses the point.

I think the guy is an idiot...to say the 430 performs almost as well as the 55 is ridiculous...I owned both and drove them hard and fast...the 430 has no where near the handling of the 55.

Article was definetly mixed but I do agree that although the 55 is a great car it is not worth $20,000.00 more than an M3. The article also seemed to appreciate the atributes of the new chassis and structure of the 209-500.
