2003 AMG SL55, 2002 AMG CLK55, 2002 AMG ML55, 2005 ML350, 1995 S320 LWB - totaled
Had a little scare - everything OK
I had a little scare. OK a big scare. After driving 1500 miles in 3 days and a ruun on the dyno in Atlanta I parked my CLK55. Got in and started it this week end HOLY S**T!!! My valve train sounded like it was coming apart!!!
In a calm minor panic I rang 3 Benz mechanics I know and trust. A very special thanks goes out to Rich at Benz Werks
who was working late and took the time out from his busy schedule talk me down off the cliff.
Needless to say the consensus was carbon had gotten loose and built up on the valves and when the motor cooled etc. etc.
A bottle of Techron in a full tank of gas and a long run on the toll road and all is well. Even quieter then before.
Just a cautionary tale for those with a loud valve train. Try a bottle of Techron.

05 ML-500 , 03 CLK5.5 AMG has left the Garage
Techron does not Burn
Just so you know . Techron / techrolene , Doesn't burn . A heavy doesage. Will clean quite well , but will Wick down pass the rings & delute the oil. . Time for a oil change soon!! My car also Clattered on cold morning start up ,when I was up there. I added some Klotz's , You could smell it on the Dyno Pull ?? Happy Motoring
