As above,

Should the door windows drop a bit when their respective door's opened?

My user manual says they should. However, mine don't?

I tried resyncing the window by pressing and holding up for two seconds but that didn't do anything.

It's a 2001 model.

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards,

HI
I believe they should. But how do you get the doors open if the windows dont drop?

The doors open just fine, except they are kind of tough to close.

Could someone who own a 2001 CLK55 confirm whether theirs do or don't? Mine never did since I bought it (used). I kind of thought it's the way it is. But apparently not according to some people.

Please let me know. The car's at the dealer now for a bunch of other broken things

I'm gonna go check out the BMW 335i - maybe it's more reliable... or a new Camry V6...

Yes, they should drop 1/2 inch or so, then go back up when the door is closed.

I imagine it should be....I've seen some disappointment in some of your recent posts. What gives?

These things:

https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....7&postcount=11

But, everytime I drive my friends' B7 A4s, I realized just how much I enjoy the CLK more... .. I guess I'm just a Benz fan.

Just that my W124 was that much more reliable (except for the AC Evap). Little things rarely went wrong in 4 years! (Windows, etc.)

If only they made a 500CE / E500 W124 Coupe.. or E60 Coupe

By the way, did you sell your 300CE?

Nope....still drive it most days (216K+ miles)...but it's not perfect either.

One of the rear headrests refuses to go down when I push the button on the dash.

The car sits outside at the office all day, so I've got some fading on the hat shelf and front/rear seats. Most of the wood has hairline cracks due to the high summer heat.

The sunroof tilt has been broken for 10 years....a $600+ fix, but it slides fine forward and backward.

Driver's side window motor crapped out and had to be replaced a few months ago. Window stripping needs replacing and door aligned to curb wind noise.

Tumbler was replaced a couple years ago.

Door lock was replaced last year.

The stock radio always sucked....after I had the entire system re-wired, I could install a decent head unit with CD changer and MBQuart speakers (quality still comes nowhere near my CLK55's unit).

Dozens of rock chips on the front end.

Rear lenses are cracking due to age. I replaced the headlight doors a few months ago along with some fresh headlight bulbs and fog lamps.

Leather needs reconditioning.

Front and rear bumper covers are fading.

The washer fluid container that was replaced a few years ago, but now has a 3-inch slit down the side so when it's filled up, so 1/3 of it leaks out.....no clue how that one happened.

Air injection pump failed and had to be replaced.

Rear window delamination is getting worse...no leaking in the trunk yet thankfully.

The rear defroster works when it wants to.

A half dozen door dings need repair.

Burns oil at the rate of 1QT per 800 miles. Prolly needs valve seals or a valve job.

Tranny shifts a little harshly, but not slipping.

Probably due for a battery soon.

Major service in another 5K miles.

Needs paint in the next couple years.

New poly v-belt last weekend.

Mechanic says both fuel pumps making noise.

Side windows show some scratches.

Just completed a brake job last weekend with new front pads and rotors and fresh fluid.

****

Despite all that, I still won 2nd place in the local MBCA concours in Modern Sedans/Coupes category last year...the lines are gorgeous and it still runs very well....and looks great when detailed (from 10 feet away).

I often think of selling it....not due to expense, but just because it now sits outside at night as well (booted when Stacey's RX330 took the garage spot). But I can't bring myself to list it as I actually do like the fact that my CLK55 stays in pristine shape since it is not used as the daily driver.

Wow you take care of your daily driver very well

My daily driver (a junker Jeep Cherokee) needs a ton of things to be perfect, but it does its job.. take me from home to work and to shady places

I probably spend $3 to $4K per year on it, but it's cheaper than a car payment and what else am I going to get to replace it for $5K? Overall, the car is inexpensive....if I'm not fretting about many of the very minor cosmetic issues that need attention.

I guess I'll just keep driving it until the a/c craps out or something....knock on wood it has the original evaporator!

The dealer called, fixed everything else (they're really good at what they do!).

BUT, the service manager said that my car just never had that "roll-down-a-bit when you open the door" feature. According to him only some CLKs do and they're mostly convertibles.

Bummer.. oh well.. I guess mine was an early '01 vehicle.

Anyway,

Picking it up tomorrow. Hopefully it'll be a nice day to stretch its legs on the 'track'

Ditto.

I think the CLK is begging me to it out for a drive this weekend....Holson, I'd join you for that run if I wasn't so far away!
