I have a 35 mile commute one way. I'd like to keep the miles low on the CLK (it has about 42k right now for an '01) but I think the market is soft for CLK's right now (3 series seems to keep value much better). Maybe I should just keep on driving it and not worry so much about miles and rock chips b/c I don't want to try trade it in/sell it a few years down the road only to realize it has gone down in value whether I drove it or not. Only other downside is gas but it actually gets up to 24mpg on the highway (my V6 '05 Accord is right around 30mpg), not a huge loss for the gain in performance though.

Mine is not my DD as well...'92 400E with 217,000+ miles does that superbly. I miss the CLK terribly in the midst of cold Iowa winters. Looking for another DD right now!

It's my only car, but ....
I walk to work, twenty minutes one way -- not a bad commute
And sometimes I borrow my Mother-in-law's beater VW if I'm going to do something nasty.

Unless there's 3 feet of snow I couldn't bear to drive a beater while my performance car sat in the garage. They really are built to be driven every day which is why my car sits at stop lights with an inch of brakes dust on all four wheels

2004 CLK55
I did for the first 5 months, then bought a Sunfire for my winter / rainy day car. It doesn't seem to get any rock chips if I drive it when it is nice. I really enjoy driving it when it is spotless & really shines. This way it feels more special to me and gets the looks. The winter's up in Edmonton can be really messy/sloppy, one day snowing then a couple of days later it is melting. Last summer I did take it on a 7500 mi vacation road trip to Miami and back.
