wheels and tires for clk
18 X 8.5 +30 offset 235/40/18 front
18 X 9.5 +30 offset 265/35/18 rear
The only thing is that the bigger tire size 235 versus 225 and 265 versus 255 hopefully doesn't rub or need camber adj etc.
i was going to the 235/265 setup because someone said the 8.5 and 9.5 setup might stretch the tire using 225/255 and not look good.
I don't want a stretched or tall look (225/255) but also don't want rubbing inside or on the wheel well (235/265)
any thoughts on the 235 versus 225 and 265 versus 255 tire size set up much appreciated.
Thanks
Rear are 255/35/18 , et30 & 8.5" wheels. Lots of room inside the fender rolled lip & 3/4" at the rear shock
This is what I have seen. 03 CLK 500 ,Kleemann TM.5 wheels , Front was 235/35/19. Et35 8.5" wheels
Rear was 265/30/19 et30. 9.5" wheels .No noticable rubbing on tire side walls.
The inside of the front tire side wall was very close to the shock / strut. I couldn't get my pinky finger between them. .
I used the SLK5.5 AMG 16 spoke turbine wheels on my car. It was lowered 1" with Kleemann Springs. The wheel sizes & offset were the same as stock. I kepted the 225's up front and used 265's in the rear. Even with luggage & 2 Cases of wine in the trunk & I had no rubbing issues on twisty mountain roads
I've read were some guys got 275's under their C55 rears Stock Height , hard to believe? No rubbing , until they put some frends in the back seat. Do A search , or Check with luke@Tire Rack , they area forum sponser, and have a Q&A here under tires & suspension Cheers ___PTE___
