190D 2.5 (x2), 190E 2.6, W202 C240,W202 C43 (C55), W210 E55, W212 E250CDI
CLK550, just as much torque with a flatter torque curve, a little more HP and a much better gearbox in terms of acceleration and response.

i've beat one out as well...i think the AMG may be a liiiittle bit quicker than the 550...i've been contemplating a 550 next, but i'd definitely miss the F1 shifting/M mode if i did...i guess i'd broaden the possibility of gettin slapped by an AMG as well...hahaa

amg is a tad quicker due to it being AMG. i am not kidding. there's those programs, tune, transmission, etc etc. I'd rather get a CLK55 than a CLK550 for the AMG package honestly. I wouldnt buy a CLK63. I would rather kleemann the 55. Makes it a little more fun. But then, why not get a BMW 135 when it comes out and transform it into a crazy machine?? But then why not a Lotus Exige S. Next summer, I am still debating on either an Exige S or a 135....I am going way off topic

i think the new i135's will look good. the car may end up being small but it will be like have a brand new BMW 2002 but with 300hp/300tq

i honestly think the 3 series is borderline small. i mean its not bad but there isnt too much room in the back. the 1 series would be hell, unless the back passengers dont mind sitting with your knees pressed against the front seats. you should definitely look into a 335i or xi instead. its a GREAT car, 1/2 the price of a CLK63. sure the interior is ugly, but if you can live with that, then time for your new 3 series

more than just HP/torque
perhaps the reason a w209 CLK55 AMG is faster has more than to do about just HP/Torq.
im sure AMG has put many adjustments throughout the car to make it perform a lot better than its hp/torq state.
my question is how the CLK550 brakes compare the w209 CLK55?

Could be driver too.
Watch out a few of those 550's have the colorful wood interiors and white interiors which may not be your taste.
Also mods are limited for the 550's....... no blower that I know of.

(full disclosure, im in the market for a CLK55 or CLK550 or C55 or maybe C43)
I think it makes sense for a w209 CLK55 to be slightly faster than a CLK550 which is not designed to be a hi performance car
