You know what? I've thought about this long and hard, but mostly hard....
Real AMG owners like us are posers. And because we've paid so much more of our hard earned money for a product that pretty much does exactly what the patched up Benz does... we are just busting his ***** to make our selves feel better.
At the end of the day, we're just trying to make him feel bad but deep down inside.. we are posers who throw our money away.. and he's laughing all the way to the bank!

Have yet to see a real AMG here to be honest...kinda wish I did, I don't have one myself (absurdly expensive here due to the 150% - 200% tax). People here don't have the right mind to know the difference between an AMG and the AMG package, and yet 95% of the car dealers here advertise MBs as AMG e.g. C250 AMG, C180 AMG etc etc.

I started to read this thread from when ctravis first mentioned his amg badging. So maybe I'm in the minority, but why is it a big deal what he chooses to do with his car? It's his time, money, resources and if it makes him feel better to badge his car however he wants, how does that affect me, you or anyone else? Do you guys get upset when people carry fake lv bags, and wear fake watches too? I personally bought an amg because I enjoy what the car does for me. I could care less what the badge says. But maybe I'm also not concerned with showboating to other people either.
If he found a way to save money and can now drive a car that seems very close to the real thing then all the more power to him or anyone else that does it for that matter. I mean in all seriousness we are talking about a 12 yr old car. Let him have fun doing what he wants with it?

I thought about this whole thing again this morning while I was taking my morning dump..
And I change my statement. Companies like Mercedes Benz manufacture awesome vehicles and roll them out to the public because of us, our brand loyalty and appreciation.
If we stop purchasing these premium products, they will no longer manufacture them, and posers like Travis will no longer find an AMG motor to swap into his patched up Benz car.
The reason why posers like Travi boy here exist, is because of genuine AMG customers who buy genuine AMG vehicles.
So yes, in conclusion.. he's a douchebag!

I find it amusing that cloning occurs in the MB world. I've owned a number of American muscle cars and it is a very common practice to clone. Most of my cars were the real deal SS's and one Camaro with SS badging. It cost me a lot of money to convert the "SS" Camaro back into a stock Camaro. I had to fill in all the holes in the sheet metal where the SS badging had been attached and then repaint the entire car to get the paint to match. I had purchased the car sight unseen and shipped it 2500 miles. I knew the car was not an SS. I purchased it for all the other options it had, but I did not realize to what extent the PO had gone to make it look like an SS. It would have been easy to fool someone who did not know any better that the car was a highly optioned SS, but I wasn't going to do that. I spent four years taking the car back to stock condition.
I had no idea people were adding AMG badges to non-AMG cars.

After reading ilovemaui1's post, I thought about all the hate directed towards Travis. From what he's posted. He converted his benz into an AMG clone (good job), Re badged it and put a lot of hard work into it. As long as travis doesnt say its an original AMG and would state that it's a clone then i dont think its a big deal, as a lot of the Muscle car community does the same and clones their big brothers.

And in which case I believe since it has the parts thy seperate an amg from a regular Mercedes that it deserves an amg badge. And like I said anybody who doesn't agree can suck my nuts, you guys have been doing it well so far keep up the good work lol

Ahmed lets be real, you threw an amg badge on a stock v6 an now you are fortunate enough to buy a real amg. I threw an amg drivetrain in my car and you somehow think we're one in the same? Ahmed honestly, you're laughable at best
