Iv'e been in the car business for over 10 years and purchased/leased 5 vehicles from MB of Rocklin. The dealership doesn't put these AMG badges on lol. They come straight from the factory. If it has an AMG kit they put AMG next to the CLS500/550, E550 etc..and of course if it's an AMG with a motor it will have the CLS63., E63 etc to the left. AMG is primarily the engine but it also has to do with their appearance package as well. So I think the people who buy it like that are OK. BUT....if you put an AMG badge fronting like it has the engine and its fast as ****, thats annoying. Iv'e ran into people who have a CLS550 w/ an AMG badge and say "I got the AMG" "It's got more horsepower" when I have to correct these idiots that it simply means you got the body kit and wheels without the engine. Those people annoy me who think they have an AMG engine and don't. To wrap this up, If you're a real AMG owner, people on the roads will know when they see your tai-lights disappear into the horizon. And people who bought the car with AMG on there due to the package or added it and front like its the AMG engine inside should all just trade their car in and buy a VW passat

Window stickers FROM the manufacturers, fresh off a transport truck had AMG sport package and AMG badging as a line added on the sticker with a dollar amount next to it. You obliviously don't work for Mercedes or been in the car business to make that false claim. I have photos and documentation to prove it. Do you? Probably not.

When did this start? The reason I ask is because I too (apparently incorrectly) agree with AMGAffalterbach. I don't work for Nor do I have any documentation or proof. What I do have is an ML (W164) that looks just like an ML 55/63 except the exhaust. It has the AMG sport appearance pac complete with real AMG wheels. What it does not have is an AMG badge on the back as it should be IMO.
I've been looking for a CLS63 to replace my wife's E class. I have NEVER seen one in the wild, in New England. a couple of 550's but the CLS63 is a rare beast.
Waiting to pick up my daughter the other night, rolling by goes a CLS63 into a residential street...so I spin my old F250 beater and find the car in a driveway. In front of a modest home a guy gets out so I walk up to talk to him.
He's a young guy looked 30 ish., with a work truck in the driveway and very happy to talk about his car,how he had it shipped from florida, how expensive it was...but as I'm looking at it it's obvious that the "CLS" and the "63" are mismatched, like not even close, the numbers are crooked and not even the same size. the tailpipes aren't right, he has aftermarket wheels on it....I had my phone in my hand but didn't have the ***** to take a photo of it with him standing there.
finally I said to the kid "does this thing have an AMG V-8 in it?" and he raises his eyebrows. I told him "I have a six liter AMG convertible, it's a great motor" and he's kind of mumbling "yeah, it's a mercedes v-8".
"Well yeah, of course it's a mercedes v-8, but is it an AMG v-8? you know, with the nameplate on the top?"
"oh yeah, I'm pretty sure it is".
"pretty sure? It doesn't look like it would be, looks like a 550 with aftermarket badges on it...nice car either way, enjoy it"

If you have documentation to prove the "amg badging" line item on an "amg sport" car, why are you talking about it instead of posting it?
I mean I really don't know either way.... but here on the internet, when I see see your mouth moving instead of posting a picture of the window sticker which you claim to have... it makes me think you're full of hot air.

I honestly have no idea anymore lol, I've seen a lot of conflicting information since. I know for a fact I've seen tons of W211 E350s with AMG Sport Package that don't have it.

You are correct (unfortunately) but still . This was a bad move on Mercedes move to make the AMG brand more available to more consumers . In doing so , to an extent they hurt the brand . This also made it not "as fake" to add a set of wheels then stick a AMG badge on a base car. I see a lot of Mercedes with "sport packages" and they do not have an AMG badge from the factory. How do people get this information? Only true AMG cars have a badge on the back. Don't get me started on these new AMG sport models. But we are talking cars in the past here.

I want to be able to hand these guys a card when I see them and take a picture of them on the highway, it will say something along the lines of... You're a *****, and I'll be posting a picture of their posing status and dooshness on MBworld.org
