TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz Watch
For those who like watches, check out the TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz gentelman's watch: Click Here. Now only US $3,450.00. This is not a bad way to drop some cash, assuming you have already put that amount of money into modifying your car and have nothing else to spend it on

For me, I love the black rubber as it is very sporty and it wears great. However, personal preference is everything. I only posted it as I wasn't aware that Tag made a MB watch specific for us or those who drive the SLR.
Speaking of that, I have been looking at the 2003/2004 SLs. Anyone have any experience with them? They look great but have a curb weight around 4,200 lbs! They don't seem much fast than the CLK (0-60 around 4.7) due to the weight factor but they still look great.

Are you referring to the AMG model? I've driven several and they scoot! 0-60mph is one thing, but the blown 55s absolutley HAUL from 40-120+. Yes, they are heavy.

Hi Chappy,
Yes I am looking at the AMG models only. Once you go AMG you can never go back. I love the look of that model and 469 hp is about another 100 more than I have now
However, this model looks like it can have some expensive problems.
How do you feel they compare to our CLKs? We may have 100 hp less but wa re also almost 1,000 lbs lighter. How is the steering and transmission compared to ours?

Issues? Depends on how long you plan to own the car and whether or not is is covered by warranty.
Things to consider for the long-term:
Sensotronic brakes. I don't trust them - MB doesn't either apparently as the system was dropped after just 4 years.
Longevity of a supercharged motor. I/C waterpump issues, the famous supercharger 'chirp', etc. That lump is more stressed than a N/A AMG motor.
2003 was the first year of production for the R230. I don't buy 1st year cars as I typically hang onto mine for longer periods.
Expensive/Complicated vehicle. If you have the coin for maintenance, they're a beautiful car and can be enjoyed year-round. The wrong example/lemon could wind up being an expensive nightmare.
Good luck in your decision.

Thanks for the Info Chappy. I like your new track picture. So, how many times have you been to the road course track now? Have you tried manually shifting yet? Think about any R-Compound tires for the track?

Manually shifting? That's the norm for me on track (except at the drags, when I just leave in "D").
I actually lost a bid on ebay last night for some Pilot Sport Cups...
