BAS/ESP and ABS light

Need some help/advice. I have a '02 CLK55. Car has been running great with no problems. I got in it the other day, started it and the BAS/ESP and the ABS light came on. Now the shift selector is locked. I know how to manually unlocked the shift selector, but do not want to drive is something seriously wrong. I don't want to go the dealer and get robbed if it's something I could do myself. What could cause the light to come on all of a sudden. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the brake light switch may be defective.

I agree. This is usually a simple fix and easy DIY replacement. I keep one handly, even though I replaced mine about 52,000 miles.

Thanks Marcus! That did it. Everything is working fine again.

Here are some links I found on replacing the brake light switch. A buddy of mine did it for me yesterday.
