Exclamation Sooo tempting!

Fellow AMG brethren:

I have no self control when I am behind the wheel in my '02 CLK55. NONE! For self-discipline reasons, I cannot drive this machine on a daily basis...I would lose my license inside of a week

I've been out of town for several days and hadn't even fired up the CLK in almost two weeks....last night she was calling my name. Of course, having owned this beauty since June and having only travelled 3700 miles, any seat time in the beast is much anticipated and relished.

After a nice relaxing warm up and careful warming of the tires, I head out for a nice jaunt on the highway...I think to myself 50 or 60 miles will be a nice workout....the car simply begs for more speed. I'm cruising at 80....no traffic.....something whispers to me "hit it"....I am now at XXX speed and scanning the roadway for those who would want me to pay for my crime of speeding. Fortunately, I find none....this time.

A few more short bursts of acceleration....yes!.....torque is addicting!....I hear more whispers....."now, proceed home and tuck me back in"....

In all, a good evening:

No scratches, dings or chips
No tickets

I can breathe a sigh of relief

I must congratulate those of you who have mastered the ability to spend time in your AMG cars daily, without mishap. I will only strive to reach a consistently higher level of discipline behind the wheel of this fantastic machine.

Hahahahaha.... D I T T O

1. Canyon runs with the windows down - (was trying to keep up with a modded Viper & a TT during the New Year's Day run... yeah rightttttt... Flames shooting out of the TT's exhaust)

2. Top-Speed runs at 4 am - We have some freshly re-done freeway stretches. So smooth, like back home on the Autobahn. Just make sure you never find out who those headlights in back belong to...

3. Track Days - Gotta do it...

Chappy,

I am suprised that we do not run into each other during the night as I am doing the same thing.....

We may have to get together sometime or at least cross paths.

I am trying to put togetehr some tract time at Road Atlanta.

Keep the Valentine Humming and remember only Georgia Highway Officers can give you a ticket for less than 10 over and GA law will not let them use Radar on roads with a 7% decline. (State Troopers are exempt from this)

(GTG) - We can certainly attempt to arrange this. Perhaps sometime in February?

As far as Road Atlanta, are you doing this with a club, or on your own?

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
Chappy -

a few pointers to keep "drive it like you stole it" type drivers out of traffic court/driving school:

1. Stay within limits all/most of the time, particularly at night.

2. If flowing with traffic, don't be the first nor the last car: Stay in the middle.

3. If the rare calling screams to "STEP ON IT", do it only on familiar road stretches and do not solely rely on a good radar detector, however an Escort 8500 helps.

karl,

You are right. Descretion is required when piloting this car. Fortunately (for my license), it is not my daily driver. A 300CE handles those responsibilities

My resolution will be to show more discipline behind the wheel.....but the power is sooo seductive. Thanks for the tips!
