I've got 235/40-18s on my W208 on 18 X 8, no rubbing. YMMV.

I'm running 255/35/18 in the rear, with 18x8.5 rear wheels on factory AMG suspension...no rubbing at all.

03 CLK 55 AMG, IMCO muffler/Magnaflow tips, KW V1 coilovers, 19" Petrol Metrix Wheels
i could only put 8" wheels on the front. had to run a spacer up front to clear the coilovers. i rub the inner fender well when turning sharply but other than that no issues.
