No longer car shopping...
The rest of the story
Now that the auctions over I can reveal the rest of the story. I have been shopping for a Black CLK for quite some time now and it seems all I have been able to find were dealers who think their cars are worth more than market. The seller of this silver CLK55 turned out to be less than 15 miles from me so I set up a time to meet him last Friday. We worked ou the details and signed the paperwork that same day. Needless to say, the price we agreed upon was higher than the final eBay price of $42,600 bid by the final bidder (ME, NDaBunka). I will admit that it was a good deal but didn't want to create a lot of talk about it on here until it dropped off eBay. I pick up the car on Thursday!

Congratulation ndabunka,
Congrat on your purchase and you will love this car. If possible, can you let me know what was the final price and the year of the CLK55? I am looking for one also. Thanks
John

No longer car shopping...
I feel like gollum
It's mine, all mine! My precious... Yep, a few mods will occur but will probably be small initially (tint, AMG metal-pedals, carbon fiber trim, etc then plan to add euro command and potentially nex wheels in about 6 months). Sorry, but I'm not revealing the EXACT price I bought the car for but I will tell you that these cars can be acquired for prices between $45K and $48K if you look hard enough. I had to talk to a lot of overly proud guys before I found someone who was really interested in actually selling the car. The other problem are the dealers. These guys are simply ripping people new ones! There's a nice magma red one on eBay that went through auction recently for $41K. The guy is trying to drive the price over $48. I guess a $7K profit isn't quite enough for him? I might want to sell it to someone on here someday and I don't want someone coming on here and finding an old email outlining EXACTLY what I paid for the car. If your serious about this, go find a reputable "Broker" and tell him what you want (i.e. an '01 in mint condition, no wrecks, etc) and what your willing to pay ($44 to $47). If they go to the right auctions, they will have something for you within a month (unless your looking for a CLK55 cab as those are simply too few to be had for much less than the $65K they are bring ing right now).
