CLK 55 New AV system
I finally finished the upgrade package on my car.
Removed:
Comand APS head unit
MB Factory Blue Tooth Unit
Bose rear shelf sub-woofer
Bose Amplifier
MB CD Changer
Added:
Kenwood 8220 (model number varied globally) double din nav unit
USB interface for the arm rest console
Steering wheel interface
Backup camera
New center channel speaker to replace the MB one.
Three new amplifiers (sub, Center Channel, and 4 channel)
Double 10 inch cone sub
Pictures attached:
The sub has to have a speaker grill in the slot where the headrest goes - the second picture is of the remote level control for the sub, and the main picture is of the fit in the car.

I spent 900 pounds on the head unit - not sure what the price is in your area. And the camera and stalk adapter was around 70 dollars each. The fitting was cheap - it was 150 dollars (labour is cheap in South Africa). And I had the sub spare from a previous vehicle install.

Nice! I have the same Kenwood Head Unit. Over here in the U.S. it's called the Kenwood DNX 8120. I paid $2500 for the Head Unit, Amp, back-up camera, factory control to the unit from the steering wheel and installation.

Looks awesome! Can't wait to do the same install.
Marty, what kind of amp did you use? Where in LA did you get it installed? I've been referred to Gold Star Audio in Irvine.

I paid $2500 for the Head Unit, Amp, back-up camera and Factory steering wheel control. Without the amp and Head Unit I was looking to pay around 2k. My buddy who lives in Pasadena referred me to this guy who installed his sound system. They are really professional and use top of the line stuff. I forgot the name of his shop but his name is "Art" and if you're seriously considering it, give him a call at 626-796-2122 (Pasadena) that's the number to the shop. I forgot the name of the Amp but it's a good one...

Very nice. I too am considering swapping out the factory Comand and HK system. How well do steering wheel controls work? Any other factory functions lost.
