Turbo Question (W209)

Ok... So as I have continued to look at how much it would cost to install a custom stereo (bear with me) in the CLK55, I started thinking what else could I do to the car with that much money?

Well, I was thinking about exploring the opportunity to turbocharging the car, however I haven't seen anything about turbos on the AMGs. Why is that? I have seen a few cars that have Superchargers, but nothing about a turbo install?

I have owned cars (street and race) with each of the various power adders (Nitrous, Turbo, Superchargers) and am not wanting to make this a PA debate...

I would expect that it would have to be a complete custom build and have been debating whether to go after a single or twin setup, but wanted to get your opinions on why I can't find anything about turbo installs for the AMG.

Any thoughts? Am I blind and haven't looked very well?

If I can get the turbo setup (hardware wise) to work, what systems are out there to flash the computer or put a piggy-back chip in the car?

I am also toying with this Idea. I was talking to a very reputable shop and he said it can be done. He is think a single turbo kit with everything needed would run 8k all said and done. Turbo selection would be a K24. Nothing too crazy.

I'm not sure about the turbo but here is the supercharger and you are talking about $14K (approximate) here. Why not selling your car + 14K = E55 ?? yeh ? lolz

A twin turbo setup for a street car is superior to a single turbo as it produces less turbo lag and smoother power delivery. For normal day to day driving you could expect a 20 % saving in fuel consumption over a normally aspirated or supercharged car. The SL,CL 65's with their huge power are living proof of this. In Australia and New Zealand custom modified turbo cars out number supercharged cars by at least 50 too 1, so it simply a case of doing it.
