06 CLK55 AMG Cold Start, tapping, missing - HELP!!
When driven it doesn't really misfire, but not firing up to par. There is a noticeable tapping sound as if a lifter is not pumped up and the valve is clapping. Once warmed up it runs perfectly, and the problem does not return till the next morning.
We took it to the dealer as it is under warranty (6 months left) and they said it is carbon build up and to put some Chevron fuel additive in it and will stop.
That sounds like a bunch of crap to me. I have rebuilt engines and never heard of such a thing. Is this a common problem with these AMG's? Any idea on WTF the mechanic is talking about? I am going to speak to him tomorrow about it but would like to be somewhat educated by the fine folks on the forum. Please educate me.
I also did a search already but couldn't find anything relevant.
