Header Question!

Is the header bolt pattern (exhause manifold bolt pattern) on the w208 clk55 AMG the same as the 2001 clk430???

Would headers for a 2001 clk430 fit on a 2001 clk55 AMG??

Thanks guys!!

The headers on the 55 are already the headers from the 430 if I'm not mistaken. So yes. Assuming you've damaged a header?

They look exactly like the VRP headers. I dunno about the welds though. I hear they resonate a little also. There 330 shipped to your door. There for a clk430 but they should fit a 55. Think thre worth a try? Wonder what they'd dyno in at.

I could find one! Anyone want to chip in? It will likely cost $150-200 in dyno tuning. A few interested parties could drop down the cost significantly. I have oiled filters, eisenmann and ecu tune.

But NOBODY has any idea how much power these make. The only way to know is to test it

Just heard back from the seller. The runners are only 1 5/8" and the collector is 2.5"

Wee bit smaller than i was hoping for. An extra 1/8 or 1/4 inch on the runners would be better. I would like 2" and 3" but that might drop backpressure too much.

If you find anyone that makes runners that big for a W208 let me know. There are none that I know of, especially not longtube headers. Best I've seen for these cars are Kleemann headers but I want larger runners and 3" collectors

Ours were 1.75" Runners w/ 1.8" Exit flange (designed to mate perfectly w/ OEM cat piping). Those exit flanges are NOT 2.5" that's impossible. There probably not even 2.0" at most. However, we dropped the W208 line a while back simply due to almost no demand at all. OBX have a pretty bad record of failing and typically use 18-guage although they claim 16 gauge. However, there really aren't any other options on the market so even if they only last its not the end of the world...

If these headers are bolt-on which they appear to be; it may delay your install but you can take them to a fabricator and have a set fabbed to your specs for reasonable since they will have those as a pattern. Fabbed headers shouldn't cost that much since there isn't much work involved in making a set of tubular manifolds. It only gets costly when you try to equalize the runner lengths. Just a thought.

Just don't tell the welder they're for a 3-star car or somehow magically the price triples

Ya, ix-nay on-yay ee-tha erman-jay ar-cay...lol. When I have more cash at my disposal(after fixing all the maintenance items the previous owner ommitted) I will have to try to dig up all my old contacts in the fab and cnc area to come up with some stuff. I have never seen a platform where one-off parts can be comparable or even cheaper than aftermarket.

They look nice. They don't seem to be much larger than stock though, so I'm not sold on them. I'm replacing my intake w/ a ported/polished one right now. I'd like to get a before/after dyno, so I haven't put the headers on yet.
