diff interchange
are the rear diffs interchangable between other models like e55 etc? Since the trannies are im betting the diffs are too. really dont care about the diffs themselves but more interested in the ring and pinions.

A W210 E55 has a 2.82, the same as yours. A W209 E55 has a 2.65, taller than yours. A CLK430 has a 2.87, and a W208 CLK320 has a 3.07. An R170 SLK230/320 has a 3.27.

hey thanx. that helps alot. from my preliminary research, it seems the e55 diff will interchange with a clk55. not sure on the rest but im willing to wager a clk 430 will as well. The jury is still out on the 320; which i care less about how the diff works and more about the size of the ring and pinion gears. i would think it would be cheaper just to use the same diff all the way around versus making a smaller diff just for the 320.
but then again, i haven't gotten into the sl's, ml's and slk's and the small engine models of those lines may have have a smaller diff that was used in the 320. time will tell tho. Damn, i wish there was a benz JY local where I could compare all these parts.
