Once car warms up it sounds fine.

Any insight appreciated.

Where you from - cold start up in UK recently been around freezing and I've had a bit more than usual - oil takes a second or two longer to get round I guess

Here in the states

Car is stock.
I use premium fuel around 93 I suppose. Dont believe it is the gas. Sounds like more of a oil flow or viscosity. 7800 miles until next change and oil level is ok.
Didnt know if this is common.
I have read earlier posts suggesting the 8 cyclinders make more noises.

I cannot verify the last type of oil used.

I suppose this is definitely possible.
A quick question....How many quarts and do I need to get from Mercedes or will a synthetic work from local parts store?

Our 66 mustang 44yr old orig 289 motor makes noise when it is cold start until oil get's circ around. The MB's don't make any noise... certainly not any valve train chatter.

I would have it checked out just to be safe...... perhaps some slop in the valve train?

Not trying to be an alarmist...... just better to be safe.

Any car on a cold morning will have a little valve train chatter. The intensity however is subject to evaluation. This morning after the snow we got here in MD, and sitting all weekend the Benz fired up fine, and had a very soft valve train noise that went away after a minute or so. The oil level is fine, and I use the recommended mobil1 synthetic. If it sounds like you have a sewing machine instead of a V8 then you should have it looked at. If it's soft to start and goes away then you could let it roll.

My C55 has a little bit of valve chatter on the first cold start acceleration down the street on a cold morning. After the first stop it's gone.

+1. Mines always been noisey on a cold start, and it seems fairly common.
