caytalic convertor's what is that noise
I have a 2002 CLK 430 with 107000 miles and I heare a chatter under the lower portion of the car. I am told that it is the caytalic convertor gone south, however I do not have a problem in the system. What could cause this problem? Help

mean you don't have a problem with that system?
SURE you do, the cat converter core has disintegrated.
Sounds like a can full of pebbles being shaken?
Yup
They just fail sometimes. Nothing really wrong,just luck of the draw.
Have a universal cat welded in.
Not costly at all.

Determine
if it is the primary cats or the secondary.
Universal ones for both types are sold by magnaflow and others.
You are in Montana so you need not worry with non carb approved units.
