P0432/p0422 Aftermarket Main Cats Suggestions
Until I find the right car, I'll be picking away at maintaning the car that i've had for 3 years
I have been getting p0432/p0422 randomly the past year. With 120k miles on the car, I'm thinking it's about time the cats are due. I would like to get a metal substrate and freer flowing cat without triggering any codes.
Does anyone know what aftermarket cats that doesn't trigger codes? I've tried Magnaflow and racecats and there are no part numbers or none in stock for a 2001 clk55. I know the driver side is a pain due to the bend. Any bolt on ones vs welding ones?

After some extensive researching, I think MarcusF answered this question years ago:
"A Magnaflow 59950 ($110) for the right side and a 59975 ($120) for the left."

If the car passes smog without an issue, there is a less expensive alternative - use Doorman sparkplug non-foulers to move the secondary O2 sensors further away from the exhaust. As long as the secondaries detect less pollutants than the primaries, you’re set. You're looking at about $10 and a little time with a drill. This isn't guesswork, I'm running these on my car. Look at this thread from the Mitsu boys -

Could lazy secondary o2, I've replaced the front o2s, cause the issue too? I hammered the cats and the cermaic are still intact. No loss in power but occasional idle vibrtion when stopped.

replace which set of cats?
The CEL is on, getting code p0432/p0422 on my 2001 clk430.
I am buying Magnaflow 59950 and 59975 as you suggested by Marcus.
I called a shop about this and they were arguing with me that i need 4 cats not 2.
Which of the 4 cats do i tell them to replace with the parts above, the front or rear?
