CLK 430
The passenger seat functions in all directions (but) forward and reverse. When the switch is pushed forward or aft iat engages the motor but nothing happens, so the switch seems to work, the motor you can hear but nothing. The shop said they will have to remove the seat and gave me a number that was too much at this point. any suggestions?

I had my fore/aft seat motor replaced last year (02' CLK 430 cab) for under $400. The shop explained that sometines the control module malfunctions but more typically it is the motor itself. My experience was no sound from the motor once I moved the seat all the way rearward. It was a faulty positioning motor. The labor guide listed an extended labor estimate for seat removal. My technician removed the seat pan after about 30 minutes of battling for access to the motor mounting screws. I had good luck with an independant mechanic. He made the repair and added no charges for the initial assessment of the problem.
