Quote: I was thinking about a TCU tune rather than an ECU.
My view is that a few extra horses on a 4500+lb. ride are not going to make a huge difference but having little bennies like hill holding in all modes will enhance my daily driving experience. To have the 7 speed.....

As soon as I put the replacement in I will share my results.

Just exactly where does this sucker reside? Did not see it in my WIS disc...
Try to find the C55 TCU just like i did and you will get the holding gears but since you have 05-06 and u can change gears with the paddles in all the modes then if you want u can send ur TCU to Eurocharged,Kleeman or any other and get TCU tune and they will include for u the holding gears...you have 2 choices

donor was an 06 c55
the exactly part # you were kind enough to share

This decision was $ based, next to nothing if it works out and I off mine to someone else for their upgrade vs. $400 if not more....

I am still not sure where the TCU is hiding in the engine compartment.

Day and night difference! shifts faster IMO. The old TCU made the car feel sluggish for some reason.

ChiCho55AMG, sorry to resurrect this thread, but looking to try to get some info for E55 AMG folks. Some of us are interested in switching our rear gears to 3.06, and as such the W209 CLK55 AMG and W203 C55 AMG TCUs are of value as your cars came with 3.06 rear gears stock.

Another factor I'm trying to isolate is what TCU models/years also allow for burnouts.

The $64,000 question: can you do a brake-stand burnout in your '04 CLK 55 with your '06 C55 TCU, part #0345451632?

My hypothesis is that the 05-06 TCUs across the E55/C55/CLK55 range that allow for gear-holding probably do NOT allow for this... Looking to prove this either wrong or right.

Let me know if you can or can't! Thanks!

You can only do a brake stand burnout in dyno mode.

(Most?) 03-04 E55s will let you roast the rear tires with just ESP off, whereas 05-06 will shut down the fun immediately... Seeing from your profile that you have an 05 C55, this at least fits within my hypothesis.

As " 91RS " said : you can do burnout in dyno mode , even if I have a tcu that hold gears , I can still do in dyno mode ( which I didn't try yet ) , as any other c55 do that has the c55 tcu which hold gears and this is a c55 burnout video which we both have the same TCU part #

Right, understood, I'm looking to see if we can figure out whether the older cars' TCUs swapped into a newer car can allow for burnouts with just ESP switched off (and not hold gears.)

Yes and u can use the dyno mode in case burnouts wasn't allowed with just ESP switched off....

I'd much prefer to be able to disable ESP and roast the rears at will, and I suspect others would too. This particularly makes sense at the drag strip where you have a finite amount of time to get staged and pressing one button twice is far better than cycling power on the car. If swapping TCUs can affect this then I think it's a good pursuit for all.
