New rotors on w208 CLK55 at 23K?

Hello,

I knows its almost time for brakes on my 2002 CLK55. I thought I had about 30k on them but just looked at my receipt from last time.

Car purchased in July 2008 with 53K on it
Front brakes (pads + rotors) replaced in 8/26/03 - car had 60.5K on it.
Can now has over 83K on it.

So I put about 23 K on these pads/rotors.

I drive city almost exclusively so I'm just wondering 23K is typical and if the rotors can be machined down or do most folks replace them?

thanks!

Currently: 2019 E450 AWD, Previous: 2002 CLK55 Cab
Pad replacement at that mileage is one thing but rotors as well? Sounds like this needs a closer look.

Thanks, yea I am startign to think the same thing and going to measure what the rotors have left this morning. 23K seems a little light to me.

Yea,
If the rotors are warped, (pulsating brake pedal) or under specification. The rotors should be replaced. I would pay no attention to mileage.
A pad slap will reduce the life of the brake pad, Machining the rotor reduces the life of the rotor but gives better pad life and better braking.

mic the rotors but they are 32mm new and out of spec at ~ 30.5 so if you have a ridge on the end, chances are your out of spec. You should be able to get 2 set of pads out of a rotor but if using more agressive pads, those rotors could be done. You'll never be able to turn them and stay in spec.
