OverDrive's CLK55 to Black Series Wide-body Conversion
Good Day to All,
Well I mention I would be putting the CLK Black Series Skin on my CLK a little while ago in another thread. I was ask to start thread to show my progress.
To start, I did a lot of researching as I really was considering to purchase a CLK Black series but with all the money I have dumped into my current car, plus I know if i bought one, I wouldn't drive it or modded it in which I wanted to; So I said screw it.
With that, I always like the black series look, so I purchased the Prior Design Body kit, Waited about 6-8 weeks before it arrived. I had sent it to body shop that I plan to use, and it sat there for a while. I just finished getting all the arrangements setup with shop, so we are proceeding forward.
Don't worry, I'm not calling it a black series, so please don't worry about that haha, Just more of wide body stance.... This is car currently is already quicker than the standard Black Series.... Hints another reason I decided to go through with it.
The Car will remain black, I plan to add few carbon fiber pieces to it when its fished.
As for the wheels at the moment, I will keep them and run spacers until I can get a set I like with the correct offset... Not a great option but at least Ill be able to drive it somewhat.
The entire kit from what I am told is
30-35mm Wider in the front
40-45mm Wider in the back
on a standard CLK55 or W209
Specs of the Car as follows from 9/19/2013:
I only have 60,000 Miles on the car
Kleeman Autorotor Supercharger (with a slightly smaller Pulley (8-9 PSI)
Rebuilt Engine with forge Pistons (same compression)
Rebuilt Tranny with a few Level 10 Goodies
Quaife LSD Differential
Bilstein PSS9 Coilovers with other Suspension add-ons
Once the kit is complete, My next project is to redo the engine again..... Possibly with a Weistec 3.0 Supercharger, however I know they don't make it for the NA M113 yet ....and I plan to convert the interior to the facelift model (I have done this in the past with a W203 C32, Have a look at my Sig)
Ill be making regular updates once I get more photos. The entire project is projected to take about 1 1/2 months, Starting next week hopefully
and now for some photos......
These pictures are what the kit looks like before its painted and or prepped.
What the Car currently looks like 9/19/2013:
Cheers!

That looks like a quality body kit. I bet it'll come out great. Are the fenders poly or metal?
That being said, aren't you worried people will label your car as a fake? I thought about that body kit as well but it's copying a car that's already out there so hmmmm. Any pics of the car as it sits today?

I would not worry about being labelled fake unless you represent it in a car show as a real black series.
Build what you like.
Be sure to get the bbk and correct offset wheels. If its in your plans.

Haha I didn't say you were calling it a black series...but the kit is a black series copy essentially. Regardless, this should be good. Interested to see how the kit fits etc. Good luck with it.

Awesome project!
An obvious reply would be go by a Black Series, but there is a strong line of passion and insanity in those who mod......... Sorry..... Was staring in the miror talking to myself....
Good luck and looking forward to seeing this creation.

Sorry guys, Been super busy with work and hadn't had a chance to respond or have a look at the car.
To answer the question about the pistons,
When I decided to do the Kleemann swap, I was looking around for a shop that would be willing to do the entire swap. My second task was to located all the parts. I found a shop willing to do the work, and just my luck they had an entire brand new Kleemann Autoroter S/C kit, along with custom CP pistons for the M113 N/A. I asked if they were a dealer of some sort, and they said no. What happen is another forum member (not sure who) had a SLK55 Amg who wanted to do the swap and had the shop order everything include custom pistons from CP. He then somehow backed out and the shop was left with entire kit for 2 years. From my under standing the Custom pistons cost around $1500.00 at the time.
Today, I found some time to visit the shop working on the CLK and took a few photos. No paint so far... but I thought I would provide an update!

looking good man. That back bumper matches up quite well it seems! a lot better than i expected. Looks like there might be some mismatche between the front 1/4 panels and the side skirts, or is this just an illusion?

omaga, awesome,
Looks like another super mod thread happening
Hey you mentioned level 10 trans upgrade what does this include?
Some of us working on superchargers and turbo's are curious about available pistons
What is the computed compression ratio of the afty pistons?
1 curious, Gator

As far as the tranny, The transmission was sent out to level 10, which replaced I think a few clutch packs and something else. I was advise our transmissions are very stout in the (W209) CLK55's and any upgrades to it aren't needed until your at 700hp (This is coming from Level 10) I think our transmissions are the same as in the E55's.
The pistons are spec to the same compression as stock 10.5:1, They are just stronger than stock

I just picked up the car today... and all I have to say is...wow!, However it does look a little weird right now since the wheels are not the correct offset for this body anymore haha. Once I fix that, Ill post up the final pics, It started raining so I pulled over into a apartment complex for shelter and to take a quick teaser photo.....enjoy..
