CLK55 AMG W208 KLEEMANN HEADERS SET UP QUESTION !?
Hi,
I'd like to put on some Kleemann headers and do the ecu on my 2002 CLK55 AMG and I have looked for a video of the sound it makes and could not find one so far...
I'd like to keep the stock AMG rear muffler on, by installing the Kleemann headers on with the downpipes it will automatically takes off the primary cats, should I also take the secondary cats off by putting on a Y pipe in the middle or leave on the secondary cats on ?
The reasons I want to do it is that the stock headers on are actually the same on than on a CLK430 which I find not adapted for the CLK55 + I'm also a little dissapointed on the sound it makes as I would like to get a better sound and better performance after all...
The thing is that I'd like to have better sound/performance but not crazy loud either, that's why I was looking for some videos and couldn't find any...
Any help/advice(s) are more than welcome !
Thanks in advance

Thanks for your answer... What about taking off the secondary cats by replacing it with a Y pipe at the same time while keeping the stock muffler ? What would be the result ?

I was recently looking at this while chasing down an oil leak. I dont know how you would get new headers in without taking the engine out- or better stated; it seems like a real pain to do it. I have read in the past that people took the rear resonator out (think its just before the transfer case) to get a better sound. with the EC tune manage taking out the O2 sensors? For what its worth, id like headers but dont think its worth the cost...and I dont have enough room to pull the engine. Let me know what happens!

I had to loosen the engine mount on the drivers side and raise the motor a little bit to get the header on. The passenger side was easier and i did not raise the motor. If you can raise the motor a little bit both sides will be easy to do. You wont have to take the motor out of the car.
I have on the stock muffler but I also have a 3 inch exh. My car is louder than stock and there is definitely an increase in mid range and topend power. My car also has lost weight due to putting on the headers and using high flow cats and using a 3 inch stainless pipe after the cats. You will have to move the front O2 sensors if i remember right. My car is also left hand drive. C43 uses the same stck exhaust setup as a Clk430 and w208 clk55.

All three cars use the same headers trust me I have already invested the money alot of money! We are on this forum to help each other not misinform. Just purchase the headers and follow your plan. They work very well on the car u less you want to have someone build you a set which has been done also. You will have to find your own guy for that.

Thanks for the explanations... So far 3 possibilities, and I still don't know which one I should go for !!! :
- Leave as it is as it pretty expensive for what it is !?
- Put on Kleemann headers suppressing the primary cats and either leave on OR take off the secondary cats !?
- Don't do the headers and put on a GT HAUS/MEISTERSCHAFT Rear exhaust set up with SR pipe !?
I have to admit that so far I wanted to go with the Kleemann headers and ECU but I'm not sure anymore...
Meanwhile here's a video on a CLK430 with the Meisterschaft exhaust on :

Have you guys noticed ticking kind of noice with Kleemann headers when you step on it? Kind of exhaust pulsation? I can not find any leaks but however I found and old topic on internet that someone told its normal with tubular header setup.
I'm specially interested you people with Kleemann headers? Any ticking sound? ProjectC55, any input?
