Eurocharged ECU/TCU DYNO on 06 CLK55 AMG
Just got back from picking up my 06 CLK55 AMG (50K mi) after having a Eurocharged ECU/TCU tune with Res/Cat delete. She definitely feels stronger, pulls much harder and longer, and the shifts are smooth, quick and sure.
The thing that's got me scratching my head are the Dyno numbers. Both pulls on a DYNOJET. Pre-tune was 288.71 whp @ 318.96 tq. Post-tune was only 290.17 whp @ 326.08 tq. These seem a bit low to me.
As far as I know original OEM filters...etc.
So are the numbers within parameters, or should I be looking for something that might be causing the numbers to be off?
Much appreciated...

could just be the TCU
i got one without the ECU and the car shifts and drives better.
i did not think extracting a few extra HP would really change the driving experience enough to justify the cost, even with the gains that the tuners claim they can deliver

I have studied the tuning capabilities of some ECU's. The biggest problem with our cars is in the exhaust system. The tuner (Eurocharged is reputable) must work within limitations of the car.
The 208/209 have exhaust restriction in the manifolds and cats. Many have installed aftermarket or home made headers to correct this phenomena.
Once the exhaust is open and free flowing, noticeable reductions in torque are observed while horsepower increases. One can tune the stock injector map to a certain extent for recovery of torque.
Misleading values can be attributed to shop temp, car temp and dyno operator.
Every hot rod or race car I put on the pavement always needed something else by my standards. Once you start opening up the engine there is no stopping.!!!
It is fun but expensive.
All the Best, Gator

FFXF1,
You are correct. Those number are correct; however, you must have ran the dyno soon after the tune. Remember, the dyne reset the ECU. Though it is tuned it still needs to adjust. I would re dyno it in 30 days.

Check - did the math and it's exactly 20% drivetrain loss which is within spec. Have noticed significant improvement in throttle response - especially above 3000 rpm. Like "holy s***!"

Besides throttle response what other gains did you notice?
I am putting my 04 clk55 on the dyno friday.. Currently Secondary Cat/Resonator Delete.
I then will do plugs, drop in green filters, and a tune by OE Tuning.
I will post the results.

288 stock sounds on kinda low to me. The after-tune HP sounds more like stock. Maybe they just gave you a BS number to show you how much of a difference the tune made.
I am skeptical of NA tunes...generally they net very little HP...20-30hp at the wheels is pretty dramatic for a NA tune.

Without Header 55NA won't make much power... maybe 20hp. With Header is different story. I was thinking to get Kleemann tune and header again that will get 50-60hp but don't want to deal with California Smog again...
Kleemann header on W209 need some cutting not direct fit.

I was considering this for my w208 clk55. Not sure if it is worth the price, not to many companies tuning these cars though.
I am interested in the exhaust issue though. I did not realize it was that restrictive.
Headers and a more free flowing exhaust are really that much of an improvement?

Eurocharged Performance ML63 and TT lambo
post the graph....(tuned vs stock)
A great deal of times its not worth looking at top hp vs top hp as you could see 30whp under the curve.

Wrightbenz - do search of the forums for anything Blackbenzz has done to his 208. He and a couple of others on here are really pushing the performance envelope. If you want to do it to your 208, he and several others have done it before, and were kind enough to share their victories as well as setbacks. We all get to learn from their hard work!

The Eurocharge tuned made a significant difference. As they stated above, it is about all the power you picked up throughout the entire power band. Peak numbers are for bragging.
