Shimming Rotors
Hey guys! I'm not new but haven't been here in a while - I used to own a 2003 CLK320 but when I sold it went over to BMW and have owned 3 BMW's since - I recently decided to change out cars again and thought of the possibility of a CLK55 - found a low mileage one with 48k miles and just spent the last 2 days driving her home!
now, the car seems to shimmy pretty bad when braking, I was aware of this before I bought it but really saw how bad it is when I drove it home - the previous seller had just replaced front brakes and rotors about 5k miles ago and but the looks of them it seems true ... BUT, if so what could have caused them to go bad so soon? I looked up rotors and the OEM ones seem to run about 200$ for the pair, does this sound right? is OEM the preferred brand to use? I'd like to know your thoughts ... thx!

2002 CLK 55 AMG cabriolet Eurocharged
Something else has to be making it shimmy, The OEM rotors are good for a lot more than 48,000 much less 5,000.
Have the steering and suspension inspected pronto.

probably just didn't get them bedded in properly. Most shaking under braking is due to uneven pad deposits. go out, get them hot hot hot (methodically with repeated hard stops to about 5mph) then go home and let them cool completely, and you may find that the problem is solved.
rotors hardly ever warp.
