w215 - CL55 w/stage III
Bose Audio

how do I know if I have a "bose" audio system? my 2 rear speakers say "Bose" does that mean I have "bose" audio? reason I ask is I want to install my Pioneer aftermarket double din

Unless someone replaced the speaker covers (doubtful), you have a BOSE audio system. You can buy a converter box to change the unbalanced signal from your head unit to a balanced signal, which is what the BOSE amps are configured to use. The BOSE amps can use an unbalanced signal, but it won't sound as good. With the converter box, you can keep the BOSE amp and speakers. I did mine 5 years ago or so (this is the DIY link), and the converter box cost me less than $15 back then (I paid retail and did not get a discount). You can also use converter boxes to retain the steering wheel controls, provided the head unit has a steering wheel control input jack.
