Hows it going everyone. So my 03 CLK55 AMG recently started stuttering then one day out with the girl it just dies on me and wont start. In short I replaced the MAF sensor and CPS. Still would not start so I have the car towed to a local independent Mercedes/BMW shop where they diagnose it to be the fuel pump, well this is where all hell starts. I get a call a few days later and they say the car is fixed and ready to go, but me being the car guy that I am I always ask for the old part back just to know they actually replaced what they said they did. Well I got a boat load of excuses on where my "old" fuel pump was, first they disposed of it, 2nd it was lost in the shop so I was sketched out from there. Picked up the car and it was in deed running, however it was very laggy and something was off. Exactly 1 day later the car dies on me at 2am in the middle of no where. At this point im pissed and have the car towed back to the exact shop. Long story short the mechanic DID NOT replace my fuel pump he cleaned it and charged me for a new fuel pump and install time but he wont admit it. Now that I know this he calls me today and says he cant find a new or used fuel pump for under $1k and sends me a picture of mine asking if I can locate one.
My question is what are my options for a 2003 CLK55 AMG, im getting the runaround here and its really frustrating.

If the mechanic is sticking to the story that he replaced your original pump with a new one, then the "new pump" should be replaced under warranty. The fact that he can't get a replacement shouldn't be your problem. That’s not going to happen so if you can DIY send a flatbed for the car, bring it home, swap the pump and sue the mechanic for the full price they charged. That's why small claims court was invented. The alternative is to use another mechanic (your local MBCA section may have a line on a trustworthy shop in your area).
However it’s handled, I think that’s part number 203-470-34-94 and those costs about $1300. Autohaus AZ doesn't list them, but I bet they could get one. Pelican has them for $1350
Might be a dumb idea and i don't know the specifics of the clk55 system but modders ie half the e55 forum use aftermarket pumps that are considerably cheaper but of course will require a install kit or a bit of custom work.... Obviously with great care considering it is the fuel system. I would be looking to fit a Walbro 255.
